Chapter 59

Trapped in Noah’s gaze, I struggled to catch my breath as he slowly pushed inside me. There seemed to be so many emotions running deep inside his eyes, I couldn’t differentiate one from the next.

Then I felt something tingle inside of me. It was a sensation I hadn’t ever felt before. My eyes widened and I gasped from the bolt of thrill it sent through me.

Noah’s expression didn’t change, but I swear I saw a flash of understanding go through his eyes. He kept going, pushing slowly and carefully, watching me as though he was frightened of hurting me.

The thrill increased. It was as though he was stroking against some part of me that was ultra-sensitive. A part that hadn’t been touched before. Not like that anyway.

When he was all the way in, he came down onto his forearms, the weight of him pressing down on me, awakening a part of me that had laid dormant until now. His unwavering gaze was like a caress. It delved deep inside me, soothing and warm.

Leaning closer, he gently touched his lips to mine, his bottom lip softly stroking over my top one, then the bottom, before he pulled back to watch me again.

Ever so slowly, he withdrew from me, making my breath catch as he stroked along that spot again. My eyelids fluttered from the shiver that went through me before I could force myself to focus on his gaze again, but then he pushed forward and the intensity of the pleasure increased.

I inhaled sharply, my body arching in response, taking the pleasure and trying to harness it and keep it inside of me. Dragging my hands over the hard contours of his back, I left them over his shoulder blades, tensing, pushing him down, and pulling him into me.

Some strangled kind of moan escaped me and his rhythm increased, his breath labored and choppy. And still, he watched me as I watched him.

It was the most intimate moment I’d ever experienced. What we were doing was more than just sex. If I didn’t know any better, I’d say we were making love, but I didn’t think either of us was there yet.

“Noah…” I whispered, my emotions so close to the surface it unnerved me.

His answer was to kiss me. Another slow, lingering kiss that melted my insides even more than they already were.

I trembled. “You feel so good. I…it’s…”

He pushed forward, rendering me incapable of words as the pressure that pushed inside me and the weight of him against me combined, sending me spiraling over the edge of sanity.

Gipping him tighter, I whimpered. “Oh, god…”

My head spun, and my body crashed. Big, thunderous waves that shattered me. I cried out, reveling in the fact that I didn’t need to keep quiet. I didn’t need to pretend he didn’t mean anything to me.

Noah tensed above me, his eyes glassy as a strangled groan broke free of him. His body shuddered and he buried his face in the curve of my neck, his breathing harsh and ragged.

I clung to him even harder, my body still trapped by ripples of sensation inside me.

“Kaeli,” he whispered against my neck, still trying to catch his breath. “God…I can’t even think straight right now to talk…”

I hummed in agreement, weakly nodding my head. Running my hands over his back, I pressed a kiss to his shoulder and breathed him in. I loved his scent. To me, it meant safety. Protection. Home.

He went to pull back, but I wasn’t ready yet. I needed him close for a little while longer. I tightened my hold, keeping my lips pressed to his skin, breathing him in.

Noah sighed and relaxed again, his warm breath amazingly soothing over my neck.

“I don’t want to crush you,” he murmured, his fingers tangling in my hair.

I made some sort of noise of disagreement, continuing to smooth my hands over his skin, listening to him sigh in contentment and feel him breathe against my skin.

After a few more minutes, I sighed. “I didn’t realize it would feel so different without a condom.”

Noah pulled back, ultimately unjoining our bodies. I shivered. He looked down at me with a sheepish kind of expression that confused me.
