He nodded. “So, you’ll let me buy you a plane ticket to Vancouver for next weekend?”

“Yes.”

“The next month or so and the move back to Toronto is going to be chaos, but I promise to try to keep you away from the stress, so you can keep kicking ass at your own work.” He sounded more desperate than I’ve ever heard him.

“I know you will.”

“Because you just know things?”

I adored the way he smirked at me with such genuinely kind humor. “Because...” I stopped myself just in time. It was too soon to say what I was thinking. I couldn’t scare him away.

He took a deep breath, blowing it out slowly. “Because you know I love you.” He pinned my eyes with his, waiting for my reaction.

I blinked hard, air caught in my throat, before blurting, “I love you too.”

Jack’s shoulders relaxed as a smile touched his deep eyes. “Now that we have that out of the way, we can really plan things. I know how much you enjoy that.”

I grinned. “And we can do some research first, together.”

He snuggled closer, his hand sliding under my shirt and up my back, holding me against him as he delicately pressed his lips to mine, soft as silk. I wrapped my fingers into the back of his hair, desperately pulling him closer, unable to stifle a tiny moan.

“Shush,” he whispered.
