Maddie walked onto the ward and was almost immediately face to face with two BlackWater Agents. She flashed them her pass and they let her through. She walked down to the end of the corridor and flashed her pass at the two Agents outside the room. One practically grunted at her before opening the door.

She walked in and met the eyes of a man, well over six foot tall, muscly, built like a rugby player and she swallowed. She recognised those eyes. He had been the one to point his weapon at her when she was face down in the concrete at the warehouse.

“Maddie.” Becky said smiling and Maddie looked away from the man to where Becky was lying in the bed. “Hey, how’re you feeling?” Maddie asked.

“I’m okay thanks. This is Aidan.” She said nodding her head in the man’s direction.

“We’ve met before.” Aidan stated and Maddie nodded.

“You pointed an assault rifle in my face back at the warehouse.” She said and he nodded in recognition.

“I remember.” He said. “You were quick on your feet.”

Maddie laughed. “I’ll take that as a compliment.”

He laughed too before standing up fully. “I’ll leave you to it. I’ll be right outside if you need me.” He said to Becky before walking out.

Maddie waited till the door was shut before she spoke.

“That’s Aidan?” She said and Becky laughed before wincing and grabbing her side.

“Jesus Becky. He’s like three time the size of you. How does he not squish you?” Maddie said half impressed.

Becky shrugged. “Maybe I like being squished.” She replied and Maddie laughed.

“How’re you feeling?” Maddie asked.

“Truth, I feel horrific. I’ve never even broken a bone before.”

“I’m so sorry.” Maddie said back.

“Don’t be, you didn’t do this.” Becky said smiling. Her face was still bruised from the attack and her leg was in a cast.

“When have they said you can get out of here?” Maddie asked.

“In a few days. I don’t really need to be in but Brendan and Cole insisted. Aidan said I can stay at his for the moment.”

“Wow. Moving fast.” Maddie said teasing and Becky shook her head.

“You can talk.” Becky quipped back.

“What does that mean?” Maddie asked frowning.

“Rumour has it you arrived at work all this week in Cole’s car.” Becky replied with a smirk.

“Er…”

“So it’s true then?” Becky said.

“Yeah but don’t read anything into it.” Maddie stated.

“You mean apart from the fact that he’s driving you to work and you’re no longer in your apartment?” Becky replied.

“How do you know that?” Maddie asked shocked.

“I know things, besides you haven’t denied it have you?” Becky said grinning

“Urgh.” Maddie rolled her eyes.

“So what’s his place like?”
