Maddie rolled her eyes. “I meant more why did you expect them to have left early.”

He shrugged again. “Charlotte and I don’t always see eye to eye. It’s not often we can spend more than a few hours in a room without something breaking.”

“But tonight you seem okay.” She stated.

“I think you’re a calming influence on me.” He said and she couldn’t help but laugh.

“I do not think that’s the case Cole. I do not bring out your calm side.”

“No.” He grinned running his hands over her waist and then down to grip her arse.

“Cole.” She half whispered glancing to where Brandon and Charlotte were seated but they were facing away and couldn’t see.

“Come on. The sooner we finish this bottle the sooner I can kick them out and bend you over this table.” He said.

She rolled her eyes grinning all the same and followed him outside.

“Here.” Charlotte said passing Maddie a very full looking glass of wine.

“Thanks.”

“So I was thinking…” Charlotte began.

“Here we go.” Cole muttered but she ignored him.

“…we should play a game. A drinking game.”

“What are we eighteen?” Cole replied.

“It’ll be fun. And we can all get to know each other.” Charlotte said and Maddie glanced at Cole feeling like his face matched her thoughts but she kept her opinion to herself.

“We are not playing that game with my favourite vintage.” Cole said and Maddie couldn’t help but laugh at the way he said it, that that was what he was annoyed about.

“Yes we are Cole. I’m your guest. You’re meant to acquiesce to my demands.” Charlotte stated.

“Not bloody likely.” Cole muttered but Charlotte ignored him.

“Right never have I ever had sex with a member of the Black Family.” She said looking to Maddie who rolled her eyes and took a sip of her drink.

“Thought I’d start with a low ball.” She said to Maddie. “Your turn.”

She felt her jaw drop a little then and Charlotte laughed.

“Brandon you’re next.” She ordered.

Maddie realised then that it had turned into some weird competition between Cole and Charlotte over who could make the other most uncomfortable.

Charlotte muttered “Urgh.” Before she drank.
