“I already have.”
“You’re full of shit. You walked into the warehouse knowing exactly what was going to happen, knowing exactly what you would find.” He stated.
“I did no such thing.” She said.
“The only fuck up on your part was to think we weren’t watching you. That we weren’t waiting.” He said.
“If you were watching then how the hell did the gun man escape? Huh? If you were really there, tailing them you would have seen Anderson go in, would have seen McCullough go in after, just as I said.” She pointed out.
He narrowed his eyes. She could feel his breath on her face. She could feel the tension between them, the simmering rage that seemed to echo off them both.
He let go of her throat and she slid down the wall only slightly as she got her breath back. Her eyes stayed on him, watching as he turned his back on her and walked to the desk, picking up the file and flicking through it.
“How long were you in China Miss Cooper?” He asked.
She narrowed her eyes. “Four years.”
“And what was the purpose of your time out there?” He continued.
“You know exactly what it was. I was there working for Homewell. I was working ops.” She stated.
“And in that time, there were no incidences, no allegations?” He asked.
“Of what?” She snapped.
He turned to look at her with the god damn smug look on his face.
“Fraternisation.”
“Are you fucking kidding me?” She snarled looking from him to Curtis up at the gallery. “I did my job. I did exactly what I was sent out there to do despite…” She fell silent, biting her tongue.
“Despite what Miss Cooper?” He said loudly.
She shook her head. “It’s in the file. Read it for yourself.” She retorted.
He smirked. “I’d rather hear it from you.”
“Then you’ll be waiting a long time.” She snapped.
He stepped towards her and she leaned back against the wall, instinctively preparing to kick his ass despite the wrist ties.
Someone banged on the window of the viewing gallery and they both looked up. The man waved something at Cole and he frowned before nodding and looking back at Maddie.
“Let’s leave it there Miss Cooper. But don’t think this is over.” He said.
“You’re right it’s not.” She snapped back at him. She was going to kick his arse one way or another, even if it killed her she thought.
