Less than an hour later Maddie was yanking down the impossibly short dress Kelsey had leant her and following her into the VIP area of the club.
Kelsey was strutting ahead like she owned the place and every warm blooded male was gazing at her. Maddie rolled her eyes not because she was jealous by the attention Kelsey was getting but more by the way no one was hiding it.
“Kelsey baby…” A man called over to her and she grinned before throwing herself into his lap.
“Giles my angel.” She cooed back and then she looked around for Maddie.
“Who you looking for baby I’m right here…”
“My sister…” She said and then she spotted her. “Maddie…”
Maddie gritted her teeth before joining her on the couch. Her dress hitched up to almost her crotch and she fidgeted to yank it back down. It felt like half the celebrity world was right there around her and she wasn’t enjoying it. The music was blaring too and it made her realise how much her head hurt.
“How is this your sister?” A girl asked from across the table and Maddie laughed. She was used to it. The surprise and confusion because she and Kelsey looked nothing alike.
Kelsey was your all American, lithe, Bambi like goddess with legs up to her ears, and a body that couldn’t have been more designed for modelling if she had been genetically engineered. Her long blonde hair hung down to her waist, no doubt padded with carefully hidden extensions but still, she was every man’s wet dream. Maddie on the other hand, she was five foot five, too short to be a model not that she’d ever considered it, with dark hair, dark eyes and a well-honed look that told anyone that wanted to cross her that she was more than a match and she was more than ready.
“Maddie is my half-sister.” Kelsey said getting up to pull Maddie beside her as if Maddie needed defending.
“On what side?”
“Does it matter?” Maddie replied before waving her hand for the waitresses attention. She needed a drink now and she needed one quick.
“My dad’s side.” Kelsey stated.
“Oooo your naughty daddy.” Giles said and Kelsey giggled. “Would you like me to be your naughty daddy Kelsey…?”
“Urgh.” Maddie said getting up and going to the bar because the girl had ignored her and she couldn’t take the awful flirting anymore. She glanced back at Kelsey, checking on her even though she knew she was okay and then got a vodka shot.
“Drinking alone beautiful?” A guy asked siding up next to her and she raised an eyebrow but said nothing. She was pretty certain the guy was a DJ but she could have been wrong, besides it wasn’t like she was into that, celebrity culture and all. She was here for Kelsey and nothing more, even though Kelsey had already ditched her just like almost every night they went out.
“Come on beautiful don’t be like that…” He said moving to stand behind her and she narrowed her eyes looking at him.
“You’re not my type and I’m not interested.” She stated.
“Playing hard to get? I like a girl that I have to chase…”
She rolled her eyes but before she could reply her phone rang. She frowned seeing the number.
“Take a hint already.” She snapped before quickly walking to the bathroom and picking it up.
“Holden?”
“Cooper get your ass down here right now.”
“Where sir?”
“Clarence Street…”
“What’s happened?” She asked, feeling her stomach knot. She’d only just left the place a few hours ago. There’d been nothing going on. Nothing to see. Nothing to report.
“Shits hit the fan that’s what. Your man decided to play hero.”
“Fuck.” She hung up and rushed out of the club, dropping a text to Kelsey but knowing she probably wouldn’t miss her anyways.
