Becky shrugged. “I was at the bar….”

“Again? Who were you with?” Maddie asked.

“I have other friends here apart from you guys Maddie.” Becky joked.

“Sure you do. Who was it?” Maddie replied.

“Jane from surveillance. We used to work at GCHQ together.” Becky shrugged.

“Right so, let me get this straight you and Jane go to the bar and then what, Aidan just walks up to you?” Maddie said and Becky shook her head.

“Nope I walked up to him.” Becky said smirking.

“Seriously?” Maddie gasped because she couldn’t see Becky doing it. It didn’t sound at all like her. She was a confident girl but not usually when it came to men.

“Yeah I was maybe a bit drunk and over confident and…”

“And you got laid.” Maddie stated finishing her sentence.

“Three times. Did I mention that?” Becky said.

Maddie laughed. “So that’s why you’re going to be insufferable all day then?”

“Maybe the rest of the week.” Becky grinned.

“Good thing it’s Thursday then. So are you seeing him again?” Maddie said.

She shrugged. “He gave me his number.”

“That’s a good sign. Have you messaged him?” Maddie stated.

“Not yet. I want him to think I’m busy. I work for Brandon for god sake, I want him to be super amazed that I’m even giving him my time.” Becky replied.

“Playing it cool huh?” Maddie laughed.

“Wanna make him earn it.” She said.

Maddie shook her head. “He’s already fucked you three times, think you’re a bit late for that.”

“Fuck off Maddie.” Becky said half laughing. “What’s going on anyway, what have I missed?”

“We’ve got some new intel on the Basildon Five.” Maddie said glancing back at the screen.

“Seriously?” Becky gasped.

“Yep.”

They all stared back at the screens then. Watching, waiting for the go ahead. Bomb disposal were running their last checks, clearing the door and then Brandon gave the order to go. Maddie found herself tensing, whatever this new intel was she hoped it wasn’t going to end the same way as their last operation.

She watched the side screen. Seeing as the Lead Agent smashed the door in and they all raided the place, going from room to room, just like before, clearing each one, except this time they had bomb disposal right with them, checking, making sure each new space wasn’t boobytrapped. She braced herself, ready to see more photos, ready to see anything that might hint this was all a set up.

Ahead there was movement. Two people were running and the Agents shouted out pointing their weapons.

And then the gunfire started.
