“And yet you do exist.” He snapped. “I’m trying to make amends.”
“It’s a bit too bloody late for that.” She stated going to walk away and not caring in that instance what he did.
He grabbed her arm yanking her back and she landed awkwardly on her bad leg before stumbling. He wrapped his arms around her, stopping her from falling, and she snarled even louder.
“Get the fuck off me.” She cried pushing him away and half limping back down the street.
Cole lookedup from his work frowning. It was just after lunch but he hadn’t been expecting anyone.
“Come in.” He called turning the sheets over so that the information was hidden from any would be prying eyes.
Jennifer walked in, not nervous, not even hesitantly, despite how their last encounter had gone.
“What…?” Cole said narrowing his eyes.
“Let me talk first.” She said holding her hands up as if she was surrendering.
“I have nothing to talk to you about.” Cole stated standing up.
“Really? Nothing? How about the fact your girlfriend is cheating on you?”
“What?” Cole growled.
“I have proof.” She said opening her bag and pulling out the brown file. “Take a look.”
“Maddie is not cheating on me.” Cole replied. “Now get the fuck out of my office.”
“Take a look Cole.” She snapped opening the file and letting the photos fall all over his desk for him to see.
He snarled but looked down anyway. Maddie was there, with a man. An older man. He frowned glancing at one image after another. The man was hugging her. Touching her face. Some of them could have just been well angled photos but still, the whole thing looked intimate.
“She’s been playing you Cole.” Jennifer stated. “She’s been using you.”
Cole didn’t even look at her he just stared at the photo. Something about the man was familiar. He just couldn’t quite place it and then he did.
His eyes widened as he realised who it was.
Who Maddie was with.
“She’s been making a fool of you. She’s a gold digger, a whore, she doesn’t see you, she just sees your money.” Jennifer stated moving closer to him.
He shook his head. He couldn’t believe it.
“I’m sorry Cole. I know how you felt about her but she’s no good. I’m the only one you can trust. The only woman who sees you for you.”
His eyes snapped up to meet hers.
“Jennifer. I told you before and I won’t tell you again. Get the fuck out of my office.”
“Are you that blind?” She screamed. “That stupid? To still want her after what she’s done?”
“Is everything okay Mr Black?” His secretary asked poking her head round the door.
“Jennifer was just leaving.” Cole stated so coldly even his secretary winced.
“Cole please, you know what I’m saying is true…”
“Leave now or I’ll call security. This is your final warning.” Cole snapped.
