“All done.” Dr Taylor said.
“That’s it?” She said.
“That’s it.” He replied. “Make an appointment with Sandra on reception for two weeks. It’ll only take ten minutes for a quick review and another injection.”
“Thanks.” Maddie replied swinging her legs around and standing up.
Damn she was really doing this, she thought. She walked out of the room and saw Tony staring at his phone, clearly bored as hell. She quickly made an appointment for the end of the month and then smirked at him.
“Are we done?” He asked.
“Yeah, let’s get a coffee.” Maddie replied thinking of the Starbucks she’d spotted across the street.
“You’re paying.” He muttered.
She laughed. “Yeah I am.”
They walked out and she wondered if she should tell Cole, if she should let him know, but she decided not to. She wanted to wait, to see if her periods returned and go from there. Besides he hadn’t actually said he wanted kids, he’d just said he didn’t know, she didn’t want to scare the man, she just wanted to be able to have the option if they decided it’s what they wanted.
They got in the car, coffees in hand, just as Maddie’s phone rang.
“Becs?” She said.
“Hey where are you?” Becky asked.
“Just running a personal errand.” Maddie said quickly.
“I’m sending you an address, we found the van.”
“What van?” Maddie replied.
“The one from the ANPR hits.” Becs stated. “Meet us there, we’re on our way now.”
“Roger that.” Maddie said hanging up.
“Another errand?” Tony teased and she rolled her eyes.
“Better than that, we got a lead on the case.” She said back.
“Let’s get going then.” He said as he turned the key in the ignition and they reversed out of the carpark space.
They pulledup along the half beaten up track. The flyover from a nearby motorway cut right across the concrete yard and it looked like half of BlackWater was already there scouring the place.
Maddie got out of the car, grabbing her god damn crutch and headed over to where the main group were congregating.
“Where were you?” Cole asked walking up to her.
“I had some stuff to take care of.” She said.
“What stuff?” He asked frowning and glancing at Tony who visibly squirmed.
“Can we maybe do this later?” Maddie said noticing half the team looking at them.
Cole raised an eyebrow. “Has this got anything to do with your dad?”
“No. Nothing.” She said before walking away from him,
“Hey Mads. Nice of you to join us.” Brandon muttered and she rolled her eyes.
