“What have we got?” She asked.

“It’s definitely the same van. We’ve checked the VIN and it tracks back to a stolen one from six months ago up in Chester.”

“Is there any evidence?” She asked looking at the half burnout shell. Some local had spotted it the moment it had gone up in flames and the fire brigade had been quick to put it out meaning there was at least some chance of evidence collection.

“Police have been all over it. We’re getting warrants now for their files. There’s definitely some evidence but whether it links to anything…” Doug said.

“What about soil samples?” Maddie asked narrowing her eyes. “Have we done that?”

Brandon frowned. “What?”

“Look at the tyres, this is a concrete yard, the road connecting is tarmac and yet those tyres have soil composites. Maybe they track back to something…” She said.

“Soil?” Cole asked standing beside her and not looking convinced.

“It’s worth a shot isn’t it?” Maddie said.

“Yeah, it is. Depending on the breakdown and the composition it might be unique enough to tell us something.” Doug said and Maddie fought the urge to turn around and grin at Cole.

“Alright then, you’ve convinced me.” Brandon said beckoning a forensic tech over to do it.
