Some movement from one of the rooms. She paused glancing in through the crack in the door.

Owen was in there.

The room was an office, one Maddie had never been in. She assumed Owen was simply working through the case as Charlotte had said but then she realised he wasn’t going through legal papers, he was going through the items on the desk. Rifling through it. She frowned watching him, was she really seeing what she thought she was seeing?

She cleared her throat, opening the door walking right in and he looked like a deer caught in the headlights.

“Maddie.” He said smiling. “What are you doing here?”

“I could ask you the same thing.” She replied carefully. This was Cole’s wing, he had no right to be there.

“I was just finishing up.”

“Finishing up what?” She asked.

“Just this case. Shall we go find the others?” He said making a big show of shutting the file he’d been ignoring for the last god knows how long.

“Yeah sounds like a plan.” Maddie replied trying to sound normal.

He smiled at her and hurriedly left the room which if anything made her even more suspicious. But what the hell was he even looking for? She wondered and made a mental note to watch him. Afterall, what did they even know about him beyond him being a barrister and being Charlotte’s boyfriend?
