“You shouldn’t have been a part of that. You shouldn’t have had to witness that.” Maddie stated.

“Whatever is going on you know you can tell me right? We’re not just colleagues, we’re friends.”

“I know but some stuff…” Maddie trailed off screwing her face up.

“I get it. We all have shit in our lives but I’m here if you want to talk.” Max replied.

“Thanks Max, I appreciate that. And do me a favour will you, don’t tell anyone about this.” She said.

“Not even Cole?” Max asked and she shook her head.

“Definitely not Cole.” She said before walking up to the concierge desk and asking for her car as Max watched frowning. What was she hiding, he wondered. What the fuck was that all about?
