“And then if she knows nothing, we’ll let her go.”

“Right back to Marcus, back to everything she is trying to escape.” Maddie stated.

“Maddie for fucksake. You can’t save everyone.” Brandon said.

“Thanks for reminding me of that fact.” She replied.

“Go home Maddie. The discussion is over.”

“I wasn’t aware it was a discussion.” She retorted before walking out the door and letting it slam behind her.

All eyes snapped on her. All the other agents, waiting outside, evidently trying to eavesdrop despite the soundproofing that would have made any attempts impossible.

“Well?” Max asked and she shook her head.

“They win this round.” Maddie muttered ignoring the looks as she walked past them all.

She needed a shower, she thought, she needed a strong drink too, and some time to think.

“I’ll grab a cab home.” Max said as they got in the lift.

“It’s okay I can drop you back.” Maddie replied.

“Mads, you look like shit and after this morning, with your dad…”

“Let’s not talk about that.” She cut across him.

“Fine. But I’m still getting a taxi.”

“Fine.” Maddie muttered.
