“You’re not going to ask why I’m here, in your wing? Off limits?” He asked.

“I assume you have a good reason.” Cole said and Brandon nodded.

“You’re not going to like this.” He said.

“Like what?” Maddie asked shutting the door to the bedroom behind her because the state of it was enough to make even her blush.

Cole glanced at her, impressed at how put together she was. She’d thrown on a dress he’d bought her back in New York and though she didn’t have any makeup on no one could’ve guessed that he was practically knees deep in her barely five minutes ago.

“We found a bomb.” Brandon said.

“What? Where?” Maddie asked.

“Outside a Black Tech site.” Brandon stated.

“How does anyone know where they are? They’re meant to be secret? Secure?” Maddie said and Cole threw her a look.

“That’s the point.” Brandon said.

“Who do you think it is?” Cole asked.

Brandon shrugged. “Could be coincidental but the timing…”

“I agree.” Cole said.

“You mean..?” Maddie begun looking between them.

“Yeah our old buddies are back to their tricks again.” Brandon stated.

“Fuck.” Maddie groaned. “What do they even want? The whole Omega Project got shelved didn’t it?”

“That doesn’t mean they don’t want the plans. They could build their own missiles if they had the right resources.” Cole stated.

“I don’t think that’s it though.” Brandon said.

“What do you think it is?” Cole asked.

“I think this is something else, I think it’s revenge.”

“Revenge?” Maddie repeated.

“I don’t know, it’s just thought.” Brandon replied.

“So what do you want to do?” Cole asked.

“I’ve pulled the team in, they’re already working on it.” Brandon stated. “I also want you back on board Maddie.”

“No, I already told you…” She began.

“Max can cover your work commitments.” Brandon stated.

“I just got a breakthrough with a case.” Maddie stated.

“What case?” Brandon asked.

“The Marcus one.”

“What breakthrough?” Cole asked.
