“Obviously but which one?”

“How long are you going for?” Maddie asked.

“A week.” Becky replied.

“Hmm that doesn’t help narrow it down.”

“No.” Becky said tensing slightly as she saw him coming back.

“What are you two talking about now?” He asked putting the bottles down.

“Where you’re taking Becs on holiday.” Maddie said grinning as Becky kicked her under the table.

Aidan laughed. “You two, you think you’re such great Agents and yet you can’t even figure out something as obvious as this.” He joked.

“Maybe if you gave better clues.” Becky stated.

“Maybe if you paid more attention.” Aidan retorted and she rolled her eyes.

Maddie’s phone buzzed and she glanced at it before sighing. “I have to take this.”

“Who is it?” Becky asked.

“Kent Police.” Maddie muttered heading for the door as quickly as she could.

When she was done she walked back in and saw a few others of Aidan’s team had made themselves comfy around the tiny table.

“You causing issues in the garden of England Maddie?” Aidan teased as she sat back down.

“Not me. It’s a particularly unpleasant case I’m on. I’m heading there this week but apparently some of my victims have gone AWOL.”

“How come?” Becky asked.

Maddie shrugged in reply. It wasn’t classified but it also wasn’t something she wanted to get into.

“So Mads, any chance you’re tempted to come over to the dark side?” Sam one of the Armed Response guys asked and she laughed.

“No thanks, Aidan’s already tried to persuade me.”

“Yeah reckon she might make us look bad if she does.” Jenna said and they all laughed.

“I’m about to be moved back to HQ. Brandon’s making me SIC on a case.” Maddie stated.

“Seriously?” Becky gasped. “What case?”

Maddie gave her a look and she groaned. “Of course.”

“Sorry Becs looks like you might be stuck with me again.” Maddie said laughing.

“I’m not complaining. I liked working with you besides all the junior agents are either scared of me or busy trying to steal my job.” She muttered.

“Well I promise I won’t try and steal your job and I’m only a little scared of you.” Maddie teased and everyone laughed.

“I’m more than a little scared.” Aidan said. “This woman has a brain like nothing I’ve ever encountered.”

“And if that’s not the most romantic thing you’ve ever heard…” Becky said nudging him and he rolled his eyes.

Maddie woke in a huff.Today was the day. He’d messaged her twice to make sure she had the damn address and that she was actually coming. Persistent fucker that he was because it wasn’t like she actually had any choice in the matter.
