He wondered what Jordan’s birthdays had been like with her family before the accident, and after with her aunt and uncle.
“Hey, Jax!” Morgyn called out, and she and Graham headed his way.
Jax turned around just as Zev slung an arm over Carly’s shoulder, pulling her in for a kiss. Beau and Char snuck up behind them and smacked them on their butts, making everyone crack up as Zev and Carly chased them around the yard.
Morgyn caught up to Jax. “Amber wants you to know that Lindsay will be at her wedding.”
“She’s cute,” Graham reminded him. “And a wedding planner.”
“Do you want her to set you up?” Morgyn asked.
Jax said, “No thanks,” at the same time Jillian hollered, “No, he does not!”
Jax looked at his sister. “What do you…?”
“Everything.” Jillian stalked toward him.
“How?”
Jillian smirked. “Doesn’t matter.”
“Are you—” Bluffing?
“Ha! Yeah, right,” Jillian countered. “You know me better than that.”
“Jillian—” I told you to stay away from her.
“Don’t Jillian me. I do what I want and I know what you need.”
Jax cursed.
“How do they know what they’re talking about?” Morgyn asked.
“Who the hell knows? It’s twin talk,” Graham said. “Half the conversation goes on in their heads.”
“Jilly!” Nick growled, glowering as she strode over. “He doesn’t need to be a rebound.”
“Shows how much you know.” Jillian closed the distance between them. “He’ll be her rebound, her dunk shot, her anything, because he’s crazy about her.”
“How does Nick know who they’re talking about?” Morgyn asked. “He’s not their twin.”
“Who knows? Jax, who are you talking about?” Graham asked as Carly and Char walked over and Beau and Zev raced toward them.
Jax held Nick’s protective stare. “Jordan Lawler, and Jilly’s right.”
“Trixie’s friend?” Char asked.
“Jaxie has a girlfriend? Guess she likes old pretty boys.” Zev threw his arm around Jax’s neck, putting him in a headlock, cracking up as he tousled Jax’s hair.
“Jealous that you’ll always be older and uglier than me?” Jax bent his knees and flipped Zev over his shoulder. Zev landed on his back with a thud, and Jax dropped down, pinning his arms with his knees.
“What’d you do? Buy a blow-up doll from Char and name her Jordan?” Zev threw Jax off, and they grappled in the grass, laughing hysterically and talking shit to each other, just like old times.
“Come on, you guys.” Beau tried to pry Jax off Zev.
Jax looked at Zev, the glint in his brother’s eyes telling him he had an ally, and they both went after Beau, tackling him to the ground.
“Get ’em, Beau!” Char yelled. “You’ve got this, baby!”
“No, he doesn’t,” Carly chimed in. “Zev is squirrely!”
“Cut the shit, you animals,” Nick bit out.
“I love when he gets all growly,” Trixie said.
Nick grabbed Zev’s arm, trying to peel Zev off Beau, but Jax plowed Nick to the ground. Graham piled on, and the dogs ran toward them, barking up a storm. Everyone was cracking up as the guys wrestled and gave each other grief. The girls cheered for their men, Jillian cheered for Jax, and their parents just shook their heads.
The dogs took off, and their father shouted, “Time-out!”
