Devin turnsto look at me, and we exchange glances when we hear a voice coming from his apartment.
Devin walks out of the elevator first to see who it was, and I hear him sigh, “Levi? What the hell are you doing here? How did you get into my penthouse?” Devin questions his older brother, who strolls over to us clad in only a pair of ripped black jeans and black military-style boots. His shoulder-length brown hair tied into a knot on top of his head. Levi King is the polar opposite of his little brother.
While they resemble one another, Levi is just as tall as Devin, standing at six-foot-two, lean and muscular. Dark, soulfully deep brown eyes lined with long, dark curly lashes that would make most girls green with envy. Light brown hair that he keeps shaved at the sides and tied up most of the time in a man bun.
Levi is through and through the bad boy next door. Rides a motorbike, need I say more? His laidback persona only adds to his sex appeal. He’s ever so charming and has a smile so gorgeous it will melt the panties right off you. Unlike Devin, who is the responsible one, Levi doesn’t like to be tied down. He’s all about living and enjoying his life, and he’s travelled all over the world.
“Hello to you too, little brother.” Levi drawls with a lazy grin. He tilts his head to the side when he sees me standing behind Devin. He pokes up a curious brow, his eyes darting from his brother then back to me again. “Mira? Didn’t expect to see you here.”
“Could say the same about you? Didn’t you say you were flying out at the end of the month when we spoke last week?” Devin questions, and Levi smiles in response, taking a bite out of the green apple he’s holding.
“I wrapped up early and jumped on the jet straight here, little bro. Did you forget that I’m staying here with you? I did call you a couple of times, but your phone is off. Now I see why.” He drawls, his eyes gliding over to me, and the corner of his lip lifts into a wolfish smirk. “I hope I’m not interrupting something?”
I narrow my eyes at him. “Hardly.” I express tartly and lift my hand that’s cuffed to Devin’s. Levi’s dark eyes find mine, and he licks his lips thoughtfully. He looks down at our hands and nods in understanding, and chuckles amusedly, scratching his jaw.
“Oh, of course, mum did tell me about your little situation with the handcuffs when I spoke to her earlier. How’s that going?” Levi questions, a brazen glint in his eyes; he watches me walk by him, following Devin.
“Just dandy. How the hell do you think it’s going, Levi?” Devin carps, dropping his wallet, keys and phone on the kitchen island.
Levi shrugs, strolling over to the kitchen, and leans back against the island. “I could think of worse things.” He declares meaningfully. I feel a tingling of heat coarse it’s way through my body when his eyes bawdily sweep over the length of me. Levi has never been one to hide behind his feelings; he says what he means and goes for what he wants. Since we were young, he’s always brazenly flirted with me, simply because he knew it used to wind up his little brother. That little factor didn’t help the crush I had on him growing up.
“How did you even get in here?” Devin asks while he fiddles with his phone.
“Mum, she text me the code. Also, you might want to call Megs. She’s already called me seven times when she couldn’t get through to you.” Levi informs him. Devin groans audibly and rubs his forehead.
“Excellent.” He utters when his phone fires up, and almost at once, notifications of messages and calls pop up on his screen. “Fuck, she’s called me like eleven times and sent twenty text messages.”
Levi nods, tossing the core of his apple in the bin. “Take it from me, bro; she didn’t sound like a happy puppy. I’d give her a bell if I were you.”
Devin turns to look at me pleadingly, and I sigh, “Don’t even suggest I hide again. I will hurt you.” I assert irritably and scowl at Levi when he chuckles.
“I take it she doesn’t know about the two of you being handcuffed together?” Devin shakes his head and lets out a string of curses under his breath.
“You know Megan, Levi, how will she react to this?”
Levi laughs, “Oh, you’re a dead man walking, little brother. I do not envy you one bit. She’s going to castrate you and serve up your bollocks as a delicacy at one of her lavish dinners without a doubt.”
“See.” Devin grouses and jambs a thumb toward Levi as if to corroborate his previous statements.
I shrug apathetically in response, “Kiss goodbye to your cojonas then, because I’m not hiding again, Dev.”
“Tinks—”
I fix him with a firm glare, “I’m not doing it. You promised you would tell her, so stick to your word and tell her the truth. You’re only making it worse by keeping it from her.”
Levi snorts, shaking his head, “While I agree with Mira about lying to your girlfriend, I also wouldn’t recommend you tell her and would suggest you think long and hard about the can of ugly worms you’ll open up if you tell her about this.” Devin’s brows furrow, and his gaze shifts from his bother to me. “I can get those cuffs off if you want?”
“How?” Devin and I say together.
Levi straightens, “All I need is a bobby pin or a safety pin.” Devin and I look at one another, and I chew my lip apprehensively.
“It’s your call.” Devin voices.
I mull over the idea of not being handcuffed to him all night and risk something happening that we’ll both end up regretting. I shrug, “I say we do it. Who will know but the three of us that we’ve taken them off? Ayla’s not here to rat us out to my dad. We can always put them back on before we go to the office on Monday?”
I could have sworn I saw a fleeting flash of disappointment in Devin’s eyes. However, it disappears too quickly for me to analyse. “Sounds good to me.”
Levi walks over to me, and my breath hitches in my throat as I crane my neck to look up at him standing before me. “May I?” I clear my throat and nod when he gestures to the pin holding my braid band. When Levi leans forward, the spicy scent of his aftershave rouses my senses, not so overpowering like he recently sprayed it on, but when the smell lingers on the skin after wearing it all day, and it mixes with the natural scent of a man. His fingers glide through my hair till he finds the pin and carefully draws it out, all the while his eyes never leaving mine.
