“Well I’m pretty sure my water just broke, which means the baby is coming,” she explains.
“Shit.”
“Fuck.” Level and I say at the same time.
“I’ll go hurry the others,” I say heading towards the door.
“Yeah tell them to hurry the fuck up because I do not intend on having my baby in a barn!” she says, right before letting out a painful groan.
Slipping quickly out of the barn, I swiftly shift into my owl when I’m clear, with Jade’s painful sounds still ringing in my ears.
Fuck, I hope we make it in time.
Chapter Thirty
JACE
I can’t believe I was fucking knocked out when she was taken. Damn it.
I’m not the only one who feels like shit about it, looking around we all feel like we failed our mate but damn those witches for being so good at being evil. We didn’t even stand a chance. It’s not like I could just sit there and let Darius starve because he was too polite to offend the wolves here at the pack house.
He’s part of the family, so as much as it sucked to feel like the biggest piece of shit for letting Jade down, I can’t let myself dwell on it too long. Instead I need to focus all my energy on following the plan. Even if it meant waiting for the signal to go in.
I’m not known for my patience but for Jade I’ll suck it up and do my best. No way was I going to fuck it up and possibly get her or the baby hurt. Never going to happen. Those two are my life now and I’ll protect them even from my own reckless impulses if need be.
“Alright everyone let’s head out,” Silas announces, the group moves towards the door even Jade’s friend Ruby who has literal fire in her eyes right now.
Bellamy looks torn apart on the inside having to stay behind but Silas made the right decision. We couldn’t afford to have an injured man out there tonight. Everyone needs to be on their fucking A game so I can get my mate back.
“We’ll bring her back I swear,” I tell him before pulling him in for a kiss. It’s short, but I hope it’s comforting to him. I know being left behind probably hurts his Marine pride more than anything.
“I know I just hope she doesn’t hate me. Man I fucked up,” he says with a sigh, but there’s no time for him to feel sorry for himself.
“Listen here asshole, none of this pity party shit. It could’ve been anyone of us, and there’s no way our sweet Jade would blame you for what the witches did. Get your head on straight before we get back, because she’s going to need all of us,” I tell him before turning and leaving the house following behind the rest of them piling into different vehicles.
“All set?” Silas asks when I hop in the passenger side.
“Yep let’s go get our mate back,” I tell him.

The drive feels like it takes forever as we follow Franny’s car as she guides us along until we end up parked next to thick forest. We all get out and look around trying not to be suspicious but hopefully it’s late enough the humans won’t notice six cars parked here or maybe they’ll assume hunters are out.
“It should be just beyond these woods, I don’t recommend shifting until we actually have a visual of the compound just in case they have some kind of detection system,” Dell suggests, and we all mumble in agreement including her mates that showed up just as we were leaving the house.
Two of them are clearly Alpha’s and the other has bright blue hair so I assume he’s the joker, River everyone talks about so much. They’re all quiet as Dell gives them a quick run down of the plan. The two big ones growl a little when she talks about going in with Franny and the vamps but otherwise they don’t say a word.
If I were them I wouldn’t either. Dell is clearly more than capable of taking care of herself, and I wouldn’t want to get on her bad side for pride, that’s for sure.
“What do you want from me mate?” River asks, wrapping his arms around her tightly, making her smile and relax into his embrace.
“As always River, you’re my secret weapon, I’ll let you know when you can play,” she tells him, with an evil smirk that would make me nervous if I wasn’t on the same side as her . Now I’m just grateful to have all the help we can get to save Jade and our baby.
“If they hurt my girl Jade or my little niece or nephew I’m going to burn their world to the ground,” Ruby vows fiercely, making Vikrim groan.
“Mi corazon, you can’t say such things, it’ll make it very uncomfortable for me to run and carry another,” he comments, adjusting himself casually in his pants.
The vampire has it bad.
