Page 93 of In Knots

Bear winks at me, then turns his head towards the doorway.

“Yeah, I’m here,” he calls back.

“Then why the fuck have you locked the door?” He rattles the handle. “Ryan’s just had his mum rambling down the phone at him, demanding to know about our omega and talking some nonsense about her being in heat.”

“She is,” Bear calls back.

The door stops rattling for one … two … three seconds. Then Buzz shakes it even harder, the frame creaking. “What the fuck? Alexa? Alexa’s in heat? Is she in there with you?”

I peek behind my shoulder at Bear and he nuzzles my neck. “Oh yeah, she’s here alright, locked to my cock.”

I blush and nudge him with my elbow, and he grins, then nuzzles me again.

We hear Buzz’s body slam against the door. “You fucking bastard. Why the fuck didn’t you call us?”

“Occupied.”

“Then open the door now.”

“Can’t.”

Buzz mutters a string of obscenities and then we hear his footsteps thunder down the stairs, followed several minutes later by several more climbing back up the staircase.

“Shouldn’t we let them in?” I venture.

“I’m not moving from this nest, hot cheeks. They’ll work it out.”

More thumps on the doors and words of abuse follow, but I’m lost to the feel of his mouth nibbling along my neck, straying closer and closer to my mating gland. It hums in excitement, and it takes every ounce of will I possess not to beg him to bite me.

Finally, as Bear’s knot starts to deflate, a crunch of metal catches my attention and the door swings open, three irritated alphas falling into the room. Their pupils are blown wide and their scents stronger than I’ve ever known them.

A mewl escapes my lips as I look at their hungry faces and my body wants all of them right now.

They bundle into the nest I’ve created on the floor and for several minutes I’m drowned in a sea of kisses and caresses and mumbled words.

“Easy,” Bear growls, his arms wrapped tightly around me. “She’s hurt.”

The other alphas still. “Hurt?” Buzz asks.

“My ankle,” I say, “but, honestly, I think it’s fine now.”

“It’s a complicated story,” Bear tells him. “But the long and short of it is that Alexa’s coming to stay with us for a bit.”

“What happened?” Ryan says, his face darkening, the scents of all the alphas growing suddenly fiercer.

“They want me to marry him–”

“That fuck boy!” Buzz spits.

“Yes,” I say. “So, I left.”

“Had to climb a fucking fence because they wouldn’t let her go.”

“Fuck!”

I feel Cam’s gaze examining me. “You’re sure about this, Alexa?” he says quietly.

“They wouldn’t let her go–” Bear starts.
