Declan’s eyes slowly shifted from Charlotte to Andi, then he smirked and it dissipated her nerves and sparked her fury as he said “Andi doesn’t sing.”
“Not for you anyway.” She bit back; her words full of venom.
Charlie was grinning wide as she held out her hand for the guitar, taking it from Declan before she handed it to Andrea and the guitar felt familiar in her hands, not the first time she had played this guitar.
Rhys slapped Declan on the shoulder. “You’re about to get schooled, mate. Andi had a record deal long before us. Then they wanted her to go into a girl band and she walked.”
Declan looked shocked as he barked at her. “How the hell did I not know this? Rhys didn’t tell me.”
“You never asked. Plus, it’s none of your business.” Andi swept her hair off her face, giving herself a minute before she told herself that this was just like the many times that she had sung in the student bar she worked on open mic nights and not at all daunting that she was singing in front the man with a voice like whiskey.
She ignored the rapid beating of her heart, let herself have faith in the music and the way the guitar felt under her fingers as the gathered crowd went silent as she started to play the first few chords of The Parting Glass. As she fell into the music, Andrea closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and opened her mouth to sing.
