“I’m so sorry you went through that,” said Cade. “I heard you say the autopsy showed some oddities.”

“Yea, the coroner said there was shit in his body that shouldn’t be there. Sorry, ladies.”

“No worries,” smiled Cass.

“There were the usual anti-depressants, but there was something else that he hadn’t been able to identify yet. Then the guy from the VA came and took the body away. Said he had the right and would be doing the autopsy at the VA hospital in Bellevue.”

“Do you know the guy’s name?” asked Trevor.

“Tim McDonough,” said Leo. “He was an Army medic for six years. Kid saw all kinds of shit, I’m sure. Fucking shame.”

“If you don’t mind,” said Doc, “we may snoop around a bit. See if we can find something.”

“Are you sure you want to do that?” asked Leo.

“We have a nasty habit of not letting brothers die,” said Trevor. “When one does slip through the cracks, we need to know why.”

Leo smiled at the table, then turned to his two friends, who were grinning as well. He raised his glass of water to them, nodding.

“Looks like we picked the right restaurant to walk into.”
