“What is it?” asked Cade. Doc frowned at the tiny device.

“I’m not sure. We need to get the team back home to take a look at this. It’s too dangerous to mail to them, and we need to stay here.”

“I’ll call and see if we can get someone up here,” said Cade. He looked down at Miretti. “You good?”

“I’m good. In fact, I suddenly feel really good. I was having small bouts of paranoia, and it’s like that’s magically disappeared.”

“Don’t hurt my friend,” grinned Cade. “I’d hate to have to kill you.” Cade walked out, and Miretti stared at him, then back at Doc.

“He’s joking, right?”

“Probably not. I’ve got to stitch you up. I’m sorry, but I don’t even have any local to use.”

“It’s all good, man. I’m just glad it’s out of my leg. I don’t remember anything about it. Like I said earlier, I was losing days at a time. I wonder if they put that in me, and when they injected me with that shit, and I lost time.”

“It’s possible,” said Doc, tying off one of the stitches. Cade walked back in, grinning.

“Well, you’re going to get the royal treatment,” he laughed. “We’ve got Celeste, Garrett, Ryan, Paige, Bodhi, and just for fun, Julia and Joseph.”

“That’s a lot of fucking people,” said Miretti. Doc nodded, smiling at the younger man.

“That’s RP.”
