I make my way through this house. His home. There are so many doors. So many rooms it feels ridiculous.I don’t want to look like I’m snooping but I open each one looking about, shutting them just as quickly when I realise they’re not the room I’m after.
I half creep down the stairs. My bare feet pitter patter on the wood as I walk. If the kitchen is going to be anywhere I’d reason it was on this level.
I haven’t seen anyone. There’s no way it’s just me and Nico in his house right now but the thought that we’re not alone makes me uncomfortable. I don’t trust people. It’s not in my nature. And especially not after everything that’s happened.
I’m even suspicious of Nico. Deep down, despite everything he’s done so far I don’t believe he won’t hurt me in the end.
Because that’s what everyone does.
“Who are you?” Someone says behind me and I cry out jumping as I turn.
“I…” My voice catches in my throat. I step back away from the angry looking man towering over me.
“I said who the fuck are you?” He growls pulling a gun from the holster at his waist before slamming me back into the wall behind me and shoving the barrel right under my jaw.
“Calm down Blaine. It’s just the girl.” Preston says coming up behind him.
“This is her?” He replies looking me up and down like a piece of gone off meat.
I narrow my eye at him.
“What the fuck happened to you?” He says staring at my face. He’s probably one of the few men who’ve looked at me without quickly looking away.
“That’s enough.” Preston murmurs. He doesn’t know my story but he knows enough from the bar to at least be respectful to a point.
“Her face is fucked.” Blaine says. “Her skin is all...”
“What the hell is this?” Nico growls and I feel my stomach drop at the sound of his voice. He’s awake.
“Your girl here went for a wander and Blaine found her.” Preston states as Blaine steps back from me.
Nico narrows his eyes grabbing my arm, yanking me to him and I yelp at the force of it.
“I thought I told you not to leave my room.” He says.
“I was hungry.” I reply. “And I didn’t want to wake you.”
He stares at me for a moment as if trying to detect a lie and then he sighs like he’s only just realising I haven’t eaten a thing since he brought me here.
“I was just trying to find the kitchen.” I say dropping my head, letting my hair fall to cover my face.
Blaine snorts as though I’m telling some outlandish joke.
Nico looks at him, taking in the gun still in his hand. “Put that away.” He says quietly.
Blaine nods doing as he’s told and I wonder who the hell he is. What his relation to Nico is.
“Let’s go.” Nico says pulling me along and away from them both.
I don’t speak. I know I’ve pissed him off but it wasn’t my intention.
We make it to the kitchen which is another ridiculously oversized room with two massive islands in the middle, both with waterfall sides of glistening marble.
One wall is just glass bi-folds as if the whole side can be opened up and I can see a balcony beyond.I’m staring at the view beyond before I realise Nico is staring at me.
I turn to face him and he’s standing, arms crossed, face like thunder. Shit.
“I’m sorry…” I begin.
