“I don’t need a pep talk from you,” Nikos barked. He pushed Leo aside and climbed inside the car. The driver started the engine, and the horn blasted several times. The rear passenger window rolled down. Nikospoked his head out. “Melina!”
Leo turned back to the farmhouse. In time, maybe Nikos would gain some insight to the advice Leo had given him, but for now, he would focus his attention on Cassandra.
Melina was saying something to Cassandra, she kissed her on the cheek, and turned to the waiting car.
“Goodbye, Melina.”
Melina pulled him close for a quick hug. “Take care of her. She’s hurting right now.”
“I will.”
Melina gave him a long look. “I believe you’re trying to do what’s best for Cassie, but please be patient with Nikos.” She hurried to the car.
Leo watched them leave and waited until they were gone. He’d offered sincere advice to Nikos and the results had been disastrous. They shared a connection during the flight. It felt sincere at the time, but now, who the fuck knew? At least Melina believed him.He turned back to Cassandra. She stood waiting, with her arms tight around her waist.
He walked back to Cassandra, his need for her increasing with every step. Getting closer, he saw the anguish in her face relax a bit. He was meant to be with her. He was sure of it.
