She smirked as she looked at me. “You have your father’s features, but your mother’s eyes.”

I nodded. “I also have my father’s temper.”

She sighed. “You must miss them.”

“Every day,” I said and continued on down the hall. “In fact, this was their room.”

I pointed at the door directly in front of us. The massive double doors made from red-stained wood towered above us in an arch that ended in a point.

“We don’t have to go there if you’re not ready,” she said.

I smirked. “I appreciate your empathy, but this isn’t actuallytheirroom anymore.”

“Oh?” she said.

“It’s yours,” I added and watched her response.

“You want me to live in this wing with you?” she asked, her voice was full of awe.

“Only when you are ready to,” I said. “I had another room made especially for your father.”

She threw her arms around me and held me tight. “Thank you. You’ve done so much for me. I’m so flattered.”

“The honor is all mine,” I said. “Anything to keep that smile on your face.”

She kissed me deeply and I was so tempted to throw her on her new bed and make love to her, but there was no time.

I pulled away and cleared my throat. “There is more to show you.”

“There’s more?” she asked and giggled.

We continued on the tour of her room which held its own bathroom and massive, walk-in closet. There was even an office and a small library which made her cry with tears of joy, as she assured me they were. The next room was her father’s. From what I understood of him, he was a simple man and liked things to reflect that of him.

I worried it would be too plain, but when she saw it, she said, “He’s going to love it.”

I took her down the hall to show her the rest of the rooms including the sitting room, tearoom, and the full library. The last spot to show her was the room with the final surprise. The ballroom.

As we headed down the hall my heart turned erratic. It wasn’t like me to get so worked up over a woman, but Allana wasn’t just any woman. She was a goddess.

The second we entered the ballroom she turned and smiled at me. “You threw me a ball?”

I smiled. “I had help with this one too.”

She shook her head as she took in everyone. “Who are all these people?”

“People from towns all around us, coming to celebrate the new face behindChateau Bois.”

She faced me. “Me?”

I nodded. “You.”

“Dance with me,” she said and pulled me by the hand. I chuckled as I followed along. The music was a higher, livelier, stringy song. It was perfect for me to twirl her around the room and take her breath away.

Soon, the song was over, and Declan had asked for the next dance. I bowed at the waist respectfully, which also earned me another proud smile from Allana, and stood back, enjoying the view.

Hours later, things were still going rather well. I started to relax and enjoy myself as Allana took turns dancing with both Declan and Gunnar. I took a seat and marveled at how perfect the night was shaping out to be.

Just when I thought things couldn’t get better, alarms rang through the air. People rushed around frantically. The lights cut out, and from outside a booming voice echoed through the air.
