The men looked at me with wide eyes and anxious breaths.
I shook my head. “First, let me tell each of you what I love about you.”
They exchanged glances and then settled in, giving me their full attention.
I sucked in a breath and said, “King, I love that you are painfully broken. I think that gave you empathy and compassion. You’re too hard on yourself and need to learn to forgive your shortcomings. You’re fierce, brave, and incredibly open-minded.”
He smirked and nodded.
“Declan,” I said. “I love your creative mind, your attention to detail, and your desire to turn something unpretty into something astoundingly beautiful. You’re incredibly charming, and I love your sarcasm.”
He nodded.
“And last but not least…” I settled my gaze on Gunnar. “You’re incredibly protective over those you love. You stand up for what is right, even if that isn’t the popular opinion. You also have a refreshing tendency to be a forward thinker, which is a quality that I especially appreciate. You also have a caring doting side. You truly want to help people, which is also profound.”
“Wow,” Gunnar said. “Thank you.”
Declan and King also shared their gratitude.
“I’m not done yet,” I said. “You’re all three incredible lovers and even better kissers.”
I forced back a laugh as each of them puffed up their chests.
“So then, who is your choice?” Gunnar asked.
“Sounds like it was an incredibly difficult decision,” Declan added.
I shook my head. “It wasn’t. Not really. I knew my decision since the day Collin showed up. Though I wondered how I would make the decision at first. Seeing you three in action helped me.”
They stared at me with riddled expressions.
“It’s all of you,” I said. “I can’t imagine living a day without any of you with me. You’ve grown on me and helped me grow in ways I never thought was possible.”
“You want to be with all of us?” King asked.
“At the same time?” Gunnar asked.
I sighed. “It’s unconventional, but I think we could make this work. You three each bring something to the table that I can’t find anywhere else, and I don’t want to either. So, please don’t make me.”
“This is what will make you happy?” King asked.
I nodded. “Very much so.”
King looked at Declan and Gunnar. Each of them shrugged, though I could see the apprehension on their faces.
“Look,” I said through a heavy, nervous sigh. “Essentially it will be the same as before. You guys shared me for the past few weeks just fine. Why is it an issue now.”
Apparently, they hadn’t looked at things that way before. I watched as the realization dawned on them.
“We really have, haven’t we?” Declan asked.
“I suppose that’s true,” King said. “Guess the east wing is going to get a little more crowded.”
Gunnar and Declan looked at him. King shrugged.
“One step at a time. Okay?” I said.
The men nodded.
