“Deal,” I said louder, taking much more effort and air than I thought possible.
Milo smirked. “Good girl.”
He snapped his fingers. Obeying his command, the pressure around my torso released and I stumbled forward, gasping for air. I had no idea what I had agreed to but I knew beyond any doubt I wasn’t going to make it home tonight.

Finding the girl was simple enough. Calvin didn’t push the issue of how I knew where she was. Those details were a secret all of my own, though I suspected he knew more than what he was letting on.
No matter. If he wasn’t inclined to push for the answers he wanted so damn badly, I wasn’t going to give them. Not to say I would. I was playing hell to keep him off my scent as it was. Never mind the tiny fact that he was already suspicious of me. Not my fault if he eats up the lies I give him.
But I had a part to play in all of this. Same as him. Same as Aidan. And it would all be over soon enough.
I never expected Alice to give away her location so easily. Never mind she didn’t need to. I had my ways of finding her without her light. The fact that she had done so only made my job easier.
I smiled to myself as the light danced in my vision. She wasn’t too far off. The change in my favor made me smile. I quickly devised a plan and stopped walking long enough to turn to Aidan and Calvin.
“We’re close,” I said.
“Gee, you think?” Calvin asked. “The light from her necklace didn’t give her away at all…”
I chuckled. “When we get close, I’ll devise an illusion. The two of you need to grab her. I’ll take care of the rest.”
“That’s all you’re going to give?” Calvin asked.
I smirked at him. “That’s all you need, you greedy wolf.”
He growled as I turned around and faced the direction of the light. I wanted to let her know we were on to her. But I didn’t want to give away too much. I let the illusion I was spinning start to take effect. My taunts played her right into my hands.
I kept my eyes on the beauty before me. She gave me everything I needed. I snapped my fingers, dissolving the illusion completely. Calvin and Aidan released her, and she stumbled forward gasping for air. She wasn’t in any danger, nor was she unable to breathe. Such was the beauty of my illusions. It truly was a shame they didn’t work on everyone.
After a few moments of catching her breath, she turned and settled her eyes on the men who were standing on either side of her. I found her incredibly interesting as I watched her put the pieces slowly together in her mind. Once she realized our little charade was nothing more than a… well, charade, she faced me.
“You tricked me?” her voice rose an octave. Not quite enough to be shrill, but it was enough to showcase her accusation.
I shrugged. “What did you expect from a Cheshire?”
“A what?” Her face contorted in a mix of confusion and anger. Aidan shifted, which drew her attention, snapping her gaze to him. She took a few steps away from the three of us and watched us about as close as we were watching her.
She was a curious sort.
And gorgeous. I raked my gaze along the length of her. Thick thighs, wide hips, luscious breasts, and a mouth which made my dick hard just thinking about how soft her lips could be wrapped around my…
I cleared my throat. Allowing myself to get carried away in my little fancies wasn’t something I could afford to do.
“You really are new here,” Calvin said.
“Yeah, I am, and a little help with what the hell is going on would be nice,” she snapped.
“Now, it’s time for you to hold up your end of our little bargain,” I said.
She stood straighter, staring down at me from the length of her cute little nose. “Not until you get me back home. Where the hell am I anyway? Better yet, what the fuck is going on?”
“Feisty,” I said. “I like that in a woman.”
She stared at me with an icy glare, huffed, and shook her head. “I’m too tired for all of this.”
