I shrugged. “Suits you right.”

Milo growled.

“Enough is enough,” I said, glaring at him. “Don’t make me blast you both instead of the ground.”

Calvin and Milo shifted back into their human forms.

Milo said, “Are you crazy or just plain stupid?”

“Excuse me?” I asked, crossing my arms over my chest. “That’s rich coming from you.”

“You could have gotten yourself hurt,” he snapped.

“Oh, so now you care about my well-being?” I asked. “Well, don’t start now on my account.”

He glared at me.

“He’s right, you know.” Calvin’s voice pulled my attention to him.

“Is he?” I asked. “Since when do you side with him?”

“Since jumping into a shifter fight could get yourself killed,” he said.

I nodded. “Well, someone had to do it. You were likely to kill each other or draw too much attention.”

“Maybe, but that didn’t mean you should have stepped into the middle of it,” Calvin said.

I scoffed. “Fine. Kill each other for all I care. I don’t know what has gotten into the both of you, and I don’t want to know. All I care about is getting home, and if getting to Camelia’s estate is what it takes to get me home, then I’m doing it and I won’t tolerate your little girl fights stopping me.”

Milo arched an eyebrow. “Little girl fights?”

“I’m sorry,” I said. “Does little boy fights sound better?”

“Careless mistakes,” Aidan said. “Get us all killed.”

I glared at him. He laughed.

“Food for energy and the fight ahead needs to come first,” he added. “Won’t do us good to die on an empty stomach.”

“I agree,” I said.

Calvin nodded.

“Fine,” Milo said.

“We’ll take the order to-go, though,” I said. “The sooner I can get home, the better.”

The men shared a worrisome glance. I ignored it. I meant what I said. I wanted to go home. That much had been constant throughout this whole ordeal. I just wasn’t sure I could leave the men behind.

I joined Aidan in gathering food.

A couple of hours later, we arrived at Camelia’s estate.

I shuddered as my eyes took in the darkened atmosphere that surrounded the place. Thick clouds covered the sky, and a hazy fog gave an eerie feel to the whole estate. The colors were muted, except for the vibrant, red roses that filled the garden leading up to the front door of the red witch’s home.

I became engrossed in the nightmare in front of me. I couldn’t help but wonder who would want to live in a place like this. It was so dark and dreary… and depressing.

The sound of movement behind us startled me. I turned, hands holding magic. I was ready to turn whoever was sneaking up on us into ash.
