Her eyes bored into mine.

“We have to go back,” I said.

“Already?” she asked. “You just got home.”

I nodded. “I know.”

She sighed. “Stay a few days at least. I want to see you use this power and I also want to spend some time with you before you go.”

I nodded. “I think we can work that out.”

She smiled. “Three guys, huh?”

I nodded. “And they are amazing in bed.”

“Ewwww!” she said, pulling back, making a disgusted face.

I laughed.

“I’m proud of you,” she said as she once again became serious. “You made a real life for yourself.”

I nodded. “I did.”

“If you’re hungry,” Cassie said to Aidan, “I’ll order pizza.”

“Oh God, I’ve missed pizza,” I said.

“Sounds good,” Aidan said.

Cassie stood up and went into the living room and spoke to Jasper. I could almost feel the chemistry sparking between the two of them. I smiled to myself. My sister deserved her own slice of happiness, and if she could find that with Jasper, the better.

He followed her into the kitchen. She picked up the phone and started to place an order for delivery when Jasper started to wince and sweat.

“Are you okay?” Aidan asked.

He nodded. “Yeah. I’m fine.”

Calvin entered the room and stretched. He settled his attention on his friend and his eyebrows drew closer together. “Hey man, what’s going on?”

“Nothing,” Jasper said and gritted through the pain he was going through. “Just a cramp.”

“Okay, if you say so,” he said.

Minutes later, Jasper ran out of the house. Calvin rushed after him, calling out his name. I followed to the front door, long enough to watch Calvin stop at the end of the driveway and stare after his friend that had taken off.

“Is he coming back?” Cassie asked. There was hope and concern in her voice.

I shrugged. “I don’t know.”

“Pizza will be here in half an hour. You wanna demonstrate your powers for me?” she asked, shrugging off the disappointment I heard in her voice.

I smiled. “I would love to.”

Four days later…

Excitement bubbled through me as I stood in front of a portal that would lead us home. We were in my sister’s backyard, and she stared in wonder at the opening that was just like a window.

“Whoa,” she said, leaning closer. “That is so cool.”
