“Holy shit,” Jasper said. “What happened to our house?”

“Are you fucking kidding me?” Kai asked, nearly growling out his words.

“What?” Jasper asked. “This is nice!”

“You’re an idiot,” Kai snapped. “Think about how injured she still is.”

“I am personally grateful,” Chase said. “I’m sure she was careful when she did all of this.”

“Not the point,” Kai argued. “Where the hell is she?”

I frowned. Of course, he would have only negative things to say about me doing anything in his house. I rolled my eyes and crossed my arms over my chest. He could kiss my ass as far as I cared about his opinion. I basically cleaned the cabin for Jasper and Chase anyway. Kai hardly ever lifted a finger for me.

“How the hell should we know?” Jasper said. “We’ve been out there with you this entire time.”

“Very helpful,” Kai snapped. “How about helping me find her?”

“You could just call out for her,” Chase said. “I would seriously consider not acting brash though. Remember what you did the last time?”

“I don’t need a reminder thank you very much,” Kai snapped.

“Clearly, you do,” Jasper said.

The men started having an argument. I sighed. My peaceful bath was ruined. Not that it really mattered all that much. I was starting to get all wrinkly. I sat up and started to reach for the plug when Kai stormed through the bathroom door, glaring at me. I slammed myself to the back of the tub and sank lower, covering up what I could of myself.

My eyes went wide before I snapped them to his form standing above me as angry as ever.

“What the hell, Kai?” I asked.

The house smelled clean. The scent was different. I hated it. I hated the change. And the fact that Cassie had risked further injury to herself only added to my growing anger and frustration with the woman. Just when I was finally starting to accept the fact that she was, after all, not a witch, she had to do something else almost as equally stupid.

I stared at her and fought the urge to laugh at her when she sank down into the tub, trying to hide herself from me, as though that did any good. I could still see her. But I wasn’t paying attention to her body.1851-1166

I was too angry to focus on that.

I ignored her question because she was going to be answering mine.

“Do you mind telling me what the hell you were thinking of cleaning up the place?” I snapped at her.

She glared at me. “Get the fuck out.”

“No. Now, answer me,” I said.

She rolled her eyes and looked behind me at the towel that hung on a hook. “Get out now.”

“Why did you do that?” I asked as my voice grew louder.

“Why do you even care?” she asked.

“Stupid, stupid girl!” I snapped at her.

She scoffed. “Excuse me?”

“You heard exactly what I said. You could have hurt yourself more by doing all of that nonsense, and now I won’t be able to find a thing.”
