I sat in Jasper’s room, on his rebuilt bed, and waited for him to come to get me. I was thankful I had brought a couple of nicer outfits with me because this was something special the men had set up for me, and I wanted to look nice.

I decided on a long sweater with tights and my soft suede boots. I even did my hair and makeup, which was for the first time in a month.

All for the surprise.

I loved that they had worked together and came up with something for me. They had come a long way since I had first arrived. I was proud of them. For many things and in many ways. Most of all, I loved each of them.

It was weird saying that. But I did. Fully and completely. There was nothing in the world that could ever change that either. Though I never thought I would ever find one guy, much less three. I had, and I would forever be changed for the better because of them. Despite everything. Especially what Kai and I went through.

I also owed a large dose of gratitude to Chase because he took the time to teach me about shifters and just because they were different from me, they still loved, feared, and had dreams and desires. Without him, I wouldn’t have gotten the chance to know them, break through Kai’s walls, or even feel their love.

As I sat waiting for Jasper’s return, I fiddled with the hem of my shirt. I was nervous about what the doctor was going to say regarding my leg. I was also anxious to find my family’s cabin and learn more about my parents. But I also didn’t want to leave behind the men I had grown fond of.

They had become a part of me. So much so that the idea of leaving them felt like my heart was going to shatter.

A knock softly rapped on the door, pulling me from my thoughts. I looked at the door a second before it opened a crack. Jasper poked his face in, smiling from ear to ear.

“Are you ready?” he asked.

I smiled. “Maybe.”

He chuckled as he opened the door all the way and held out a blindfold.

“You’re going to blindfold me?” I asked.

“Just for a few seconds,” he said.

I let out a deep breath and nodded.

Jasper stepped into the room and placed the blindfold over my eyes, tying it tightly behind my head. “Too tight?”

I shook my head. “It’s fine.”

“Okay, here we go,” he said, taking my hand and carefully leading me through the cabin and out the front door. Once we got to the steps, he picked me up and carried me down them.

I belted out in laughter.

He continued to carry me some feet. The sound of a campfire fell on my ears, and I breathed in deep its scent which was followed by a sinking sensation as he set me down and then urged me to take a seat in a wooden chair.

Seconds later, the blindfold fell loose from my eyes and I took in a large fire pit surrounded by three other chairs. Kai and Chase sat in two of them. Jasper walked in front of me and took the last available seat.

“Surprise, my sweet,” Chase said.

I smiled. “This is amazing. Thank you.”

“We’re glad you liked it,” Kai said and pulled out a bag of marshmallows. “But it gets better.”

I giggled. “Roasted marshmallows?”

“And some beer,” Jasper held up a couple of cans. He tossed me one.

“Thank you, this is so perfect,” I said.

“You deserve it,” Kai said. “After everything you been through, you needed to see the more positive sides of living out in the woods.”

“Besides the solitude,” Chase added.

I breathed in deep and let it all out with a sigh. My lips continued to hang onto the smile. “You guys are awesome.”
