The position sent my mind into a frenzy.

“Scared?” she asked.

That sobered me, but only a little. I cleared my throat. “Hell no.”

“Then what are you waiting for?” she asked.

I smirked and lowered myself to my knees at her side, bracing my upper body on my arms planted on either side of her.

She smiled. “You asked for this, just remember that.”

I chuckled. “If you say so.”

She reached up toward me. I instantly reacted, placing my knee on her belly and on hand on her hip, keeping her down. I met her smiling gaze for a moment. Within seconds, she managed to get me to my back, placing her knee on the inside of my right arm, her knee on my stomach, and her hand on my hip, holding me down.

I was, for the lack of a better phrase, surprisingly impressed.

“Well, would you look at that?” I said, smirking up at her.

She giggled. “I told you. Don’t underestimate me.”

“Consider my lesson learned,” I said. “Though I wouldn’t call this sparring.”

“Is that so?” she asked.

I shook my head. “This is more like a playful wrestling match. I don’t normally have this much fun with everyone.”

She laughed. Her guard was dropped. I escaped her hold and placed her into one of my own. She laughed even harder.

“See? Playful wrestling match.” I stared into her beautiful eyes, and my breath was stolen away from me. I wanted this to last forever. But I knew that wasn’t a realistic expectation.

She nodded. “Okay, okay. You win. Let me up.”

“First, answer me a question,” I said, putting a little more pressure on her to keep her down.

She settled her gaze on me, waiting expectantly. “Okay…”

“How long are you going to stay this time?” I asked.

“That’s your burning question?” she asked me and then bucked me off her. I landed in a roll.

“Yes, that is my burning question,” I said as I sat up and faced her.

She shrugged. “I don’t know. I’m still undecided.”

I pinned her down again and lowered my mouth to her ear to whisper, “Stay forever.”

When I leaned up, she was still smiling. But she pulled her gaze away from me. A small crease appeared in between her eyebrows. The image was confusing. I thought we were having a good time together.

“You have a beautiful smile,” I said, pulling strands of deep red hair from in front of her face. “Never let it fade. For no one.”

She shook her head and pushed me off of her, standing from the ground. “I need to go shower.”

She turned and walked away. I followed her with my gaze until she turned out of sight. All the while, I was consumed with the struggle of not running after her to kiss her. It seemed like there was going to be a constant tug-of-war within me. So long as she was here, and Marcus hadn’t patched things over with her, the battle between what I want and what I should probably do would continue.

With a sigh, I stood from the ground and continued to take deep breaths. My erection was refusing to go away. I throbbed with aching need, and Emily was the only thing who I knew would suffice. Since she was off-limits still, I decided maybe a cold shower was what I needed to do as well and went to do just that.

But halfway to my room, I had a change of mind.
