“Someone please tell me we’re all in agreeance,” I said.

Jax raised his hand. “I can’t lose her. I would do whatever it took to keep her happy, even if that is sharing her.”

“I already told you my thoughts,” Marcus said. “Please don’t make me repeat myself.”

I nodded. “Then we have this settled.”

“Not yet, it isn’t,” Marcus said. “We still have to find out if Emily is willing to be with the three of us.”

“She will,” I said. “I have a feeling she will.”

“We could do a special dinner for her,” Jax offered. “Candlelight, dessert, wine, the works.”

Marcus nodded.

“I like where you’re going with this,” I said. “But how is that going to help us with figuring out if she would accept us or not?”

“There’s only one way to find out,” Jax said and looked to Marcus.

He sighed. “Dinner. We’ll give her the rest of the day to rest up and relax, then at dinner, we’ll ask her.”

“All right, we got a plan,” I said. “Now all we have to do is execute. I’ll go shopping.”

“I will do the cooking,” Jax said.

“I guess I’ll run the bath,” Marcus said. At least this time he sounded more hopeful and was a bit more lively.

“We’re going to need to clean up too,” I said.

“One step at a time,” Marcus said, holding up his hand. “Go to the store. Jax and I will handle things here until you come back.”

I nodded. “Yes, sir.”

Without another word, I turned around and headed back out of the castle. I had little doubts things wouldn’t pan out for us… but I still couldn’t shake the nervousness that worked its way through me.

I hated the thought of a life without Emily. And in the off chance that she wouldn’t accept the three of us, I would probably shrivel up and die. Or my heart would at the very least.

EMILY

I was sitting in the living room, watching tv when Marcus came in and held out his hand.

I smiled at him. “What?”

Wordlessly, he stared at me. There was a certain glint in his eyes that tugged on the corners of his lips in the smallest, almost undetectable way. I bit my lip as my eyes trailed along his body. Bits of the night we shared flashed through my mind.

I slid my hand on top of his. His fingers wrapped around my palm. He tugged, pulling me from the couch, and then led me through the castle to my bedroom, where the sound of rushing water filled the air. I sucked in a deep breath and sighed. The aroma was rose and lavender.

“Are you not going to tell me what this is all about?” I asked.

“You’ll see,” he said.

“Uh-huh,” I said as we entered my bedroom. “A bubble bath is hardly a surprise.”

I was trying to bait him into telling me what he was up to. He only smirked, letting me know that not only did my attempt fall flat, it also humored him.

“Who said anything about a surprise?” he asked. He guided me to the bathroom and shut off the water filling the tub before he turned and faced me. He stared at me patiently.
