As far as I knew, I had been asleep the whole time. At least, as far as I could remember. So, I certainly didn’t walk or take a cab. One of those vampire dickheads had to have brought me home while I was still passed out. I wondered how long it had taken them after I fell asleep to rid themselves of me. Five minutes? Less than?

Silas had another thing coming if he thought I was good for nothing more than a fantastic lay and sent home right after.

My phone started ringing again. I wanted to ignore it. But when I looked over at the screen, I saw Bobby’s name.

Reaching over, I picked up the phone and pressed the answer button. “Yes?”

“Thank God you finally answered. I was about to come over and bang down the door.” Bobby’s voice filtered through the line full of worry and on edge.

I quirked an eyebrow. “What are you talking about? Why would you do that?”

“Why do you think?” he asked.

I shook my head. “I give up.”

“The bar was closed when I came back last night. You didn’t let me know you were closing early. I showed up to help out and you weren’t even there.”

I loved Bobby. He was a great guy and I thought of him like a big brother. He could also be a bit overbearing at times.

“I’m sorry,” I said and ran my fingers through my long, black hair. “I didn’t mean to worry you.”

“Is everything okay?” he asked, sounding a little calmer.

I nodded, though he couldn’t see it. “Yeah. Yeah, I’m good.”

“So why did you close up early last night?” he asked.

“Lack of business and I had something come up that I needed to take care of,” I said.

I pulled my knees to my chest, and I tried to remember how I got home. There had to be a memory waiting for me. I wanted to conjure some image that would make sense. A glimpse of a back seat, or the slightest sight of a sidewalk or a building. Something. Anything. But my memory was nothing but a huge, gaping, black hole. No matter how hard I tried to remember. I couldn’t come up with anything.

“Anything I can help with?” Bobby’s voice whispered over the other line, but my mind was too preoccupied to respond.

If I didn’t know any better, I would say I had teleported myself to my apartment.

Or, more likely, they wanted me to believe the night was all a dream?

Speculating wasn’t going to do me any favors. Nor could I deny last night happened. It did, I just couldn’t make some pieces fit.

“Cindy…” Bobby said, sounding distant.

Few things could make that happen. None of anything I could come up with made much sense. Especially roofies.

I never considered vampires to be the type to roofie a girl. Of course, I never considered vampires existed outside of books either. So, maybe they did do such things?

Nah. Roofies didn’t make sense either. If I was roofied, I wouldn’t have remembered a thing, and I clearly remembered having sex with someone who shouldn’t even exist in the first place. Not only because he was a vampire, but also because he was simply too damn gorgeous to be real.

Him and the other two.

My mind was fuzzy. I was a little dizzy too. But nothing my body was going through was going to stop me from trying to fill in the blanks from last night.

“Cindy!” Bobby’s voice stabbed into my ear.

I startled and snapped back, “Yeah? What?”

“You fall asleep or something?” he asked.

I sighed. “Yeah. Something like that.”
