Then Xavier came back. And everything within the room changed. The air turned to static, and electric sensations nipped delightfully at my skin. My arousal heightened.

He unnerved me in a way that I hadn’t felt before. Much more than Silas, but as much as I was drawn to him, I had to find Collin before he killed someone. Before it was too late, and even more damage had been done.

Then he kissed me.

I fell into his kiss. It was as though nothing else in the world existed. I was content to stay that way too. But then he pulled away, and reality came crashing to me. I was suddenly cold and shivered. He smiled at me like he was waiting for me to make the next move.

I couldn’t. Collin had to be stopped. This wasn’t a time for throwing caution to the wind and ignoring the sheer war that could break out at any time if people learned monsters truly did exist.

“What is it?” he asked.

“Collin. He’s out there. There’s no telling how many people he’s killed already,” I said.

“It’s being handled,” he said. “I’ve been instructed to keep you safe and comfortable, and that’s exactly what I’m doing.”

“Being locked in a tiny room with a vampire is far from being comfortable,” I said. It was sort of a lie. I really didn’t mind being up close and personal with Xavier. Him and his god-like looks.

But I was trying to reason, and I had to make it look like I didn’t enjoy his company one bit.

He chuckled under his breath and tucked a strand of hair behind my ear. “You’re even cute when you lie.”

Crap. He called my bluff.

I rolled my eyes and continued to play hard to get, but after several more, rebuffed attempts, I was wearing down. He was getting to me, and he knew it.

He backed me against a wall and kissed me again. His fingers danced along my skin, sending my nerves into a frenzy. I knew I shouldn’t give in to my hormones, but there was something about this man that made me want to throw caution to the wind, and I was running out of reasons not to. He kept punching hole after hole into my logic.

So, when he kissed me again… I gave in. I kissed him back and started to undress him.

He chuckled against my mouth. “There we go.”

I smiled as I shucked his shirt from his body then moved to the button of his jeans. I unsnapped them and tugged the zipper down over his bulging erection. Then Xavier smacked my greedy hands away to pick me up. I wrapped my legs around him as his mouth met mine again.

The sensation of movement washed over me as a dizzying sensation while Xavier expertly slid his tongue over mine, dancing it around my mouth in tantalizing ways. The tray of food crashed to the floor a breath before my body landed on the cloudlike mattress.

Xavier lifted up and gripped a handful of my shirt in both his hands. I quickly gripped them and said, “Stop.”

He stared at me with a confused expression.

“I don’t want my clothes ripped to shreds. I would like to keep them in one piece,” I said.

He stared at me for another few seconds before he smiled and moved his hands to the hem of my shirt. He dragged his fingers along my skin as my shirt rolled over my body. Inch by inch. Ever so carefully, he pulled my shirt over my head, tossing it to the floor on the side of the bed. His eyes hungrily took in my ample, plump cleavage—thanks to the type of bra I wore. Although I was a size D to start with—and he let out a groan.

I chuckled. “I like them too.”

“Oh, I love them,” he said and buried his face into them, sliding his hands over my mounds of skin as he licked, nibbled, and pecked each.

I laid back and closed my eyes, relishing in the feel of being worshiped by a god-like creature such as Xavier. I bit my lip and sighed as pleasure rippled over me, filling me with warmth and egging my arousal higher.

Xavier lowered himself down my body, placing kisses and teasing little nibbles along my skin until he reached my waistband. He pulled up, took off my shoes and socks, then returned to the button on my jeans.

Within seconds, my pants were pulled off me, leaving me clad in my lacy undies and amazing bra.

“It’s a shame you’re no longer going to have these?” Xavier said as he slid a finger underneath the hem of my undies and pulled up, letting the elastic snap my skin.

“Why is that?” I asked.

“Because, after tonight, there’s not going to be anything left of them,” he said.
