Istepoutofthe airport and switch on my phone. I just want to check if they have noticed I’m gone yet. If they have, I’ll text them and tell them I’m safe. I’ve started to feel guilty now. Poor Kara will be getting the blame and North… Well, he’ll be pacing up and down. I try not to think about Zed. I don’t know how he’s reacting.
My phone vibrates instantly. Yep, they know.
Zed: East, where are you?
Zed: I need you to call me.
Zed: I need you to ring me. It’s urgent.
Nice try, Zed.
Zed: You are in big trouble, East. Ring me now!
Bossy much? I don’t think so. Who does he think he is to say that I’m in trouble? He’s not my real husband, and even if he’s referring to my brothers, he can fuck off. I switch the phone off and put it back in my bag.
I’m so angry that when a cab pulls up in front of me, I simply open the door, get in the back and slam the door. It’s only then I realise that Matt the Twat is sitting in the back seat smirking at me.
This is one shitty day. I knew I wasn’t going to be so lucky to get rid of him for good.Argh.
“Sorry, I thought this cab was free. I’ll wait for another one.” I reach for the door handle as the cab sets off.
“Excuse me, can you please stop? I need to get out,” I call to the driver.
He looks at me through the mirror and then continues to watch the road as if I haven’t spoken.
I tap him on his shoulder. “Excuse me?” He doesn’t react at all.
“East, there is no point. He doesn’t speak any English.”
“Oh, okay. Por favor, ¿puede parar el taxi?” I ask, tapping him on his shoulder.
“He won’t answer you. I’ve told him not to.”
“Why did you tell him that? I need to get out of this cab and get my own.”
“Yeah, about that… It’s not happening. I was actually beginning to like you on the plane, but when you poured red-hot coffee all over my dick, it unfortunately reminded me why I despise you and your family so much.”
“What the hell are you talking about? You don’t know anything about me or my family. We only just met on the plane.”
“Oh, that’s right. I don’t know anything about you,East McGarry.” He smirks again and then smiles, but it’s not a friendly smile. It’s like a creepy, evil, wicked smile.
Oh, shit, East, you really are in trouble.
“Who the hell are you?”
“I told you on the plane. My name is Matthew. Well, it’s actually Matias.”
“That doesn’t tell me anything.”
“I know! You don’t need to know anything. It won’t help you, anyway. I can’t actually believe how lucky I have been to have you practically fall in my lap.” He laughs again, and it’s sick. “I thought it was going to take me a lot longer to get one of you McGarry’s on your own, and then you just walk right into the airport and board the same plane. It’s fate, East. Fate. It was like, what’s the saying… Oh yeah.It was meant to be.”
“What the hell do you want?”
“First, your phone.”
“No way.”
“It wasn’t a request. Hand over your phone, now.”
