“Go get yourself cleaned up, Dynamite. I’ll wait for you down here.” Zed smiles as he taps me on my arse.
“Don’t you want to come and see my bedroom?” I ask sweetly.
“No, he fucking doesn’t,” North answers while Kara and I laugh. Oh, my dear brother.
Chapter 32
Zed
There’saweirdtensionin the house. I get the distinct feeling it has something to do with me and East.
“Do you want a drink?” West asks as I walk into the office.
“No, I’m driving.”
“East can drive, you know. She’s not bad, either,” North interrupts.
“Yes, I did know, but I’m driving,” I lie.
“Why don’t you have a drink and let her drive, then?” West asks.
“Because she hasn’t been too good. I was going to tell you, but you haven’t given me a chance.”
“Is it her arm?” North asks.
“No, she keeps having dizzy spells, so I took her to the doctors this morning. The test results will be back tomorrow. Don’t worry, I’ll let you know as soon as we have them.”
Both brothers look at each other.
“The doctor seems to think it’s something to do with low blood pressure. We’ll see what he says. Anyway, when are the others arriving? I want to get this debrief over and done with. I want this storybook closed. I’m bored of it all now.”
“Agreed, but we need to make sure everything is documented and accounted for. You know the score better than anyone, Zed. What’s up?”
“Nothing. I just want to chill out for a few days and relax. East and I have a few things to resolve still, and I’m hoping a few days of‘uninterrupted’time together will do us both good.”
“So, there is a you and East, then?” South appears in the doorway.
“Yes, so you can call off your spies,” I bite back
“It was for her own good!” he barks.
“Don’t give me that. It was you and your fucking inferiority complex that put her in danger. You think that because your balls are not as big as West’s, everyone else is weak, too. I’ve news for you: your sister is far from weak. She is a fucking badass. You didn’t need to buy her friend and split them up. Chelsea would have told you willingly if East was in trouble, but no, South the backseat driver strikes again. You only needed to spend a little time with your eyes open to see that your sister is amazing, and I would bet a million pounds she could take your sorry ass.”
West and North hide their amusement.
“Oh, and while I’m at it, sort out your shit with Daisy, will you? She looked at North like she wanted to lick him all over. He’s her fucking uncle, for Christ’s sake.”
South pales. “Her what? How is North her uncle? West? What the hell is he talking about? Did you know Paula years ago? Is Daisyyourdaughter…? Did Paula cheat on me with…? Oh fuck… You’re not saying it was West, are you?”
“No, thicko, I’m not. Have you even looked in a mirror lately? She’s your kid, South. Even without a DNA test, there is no denying it.”
West and North stare at me, and I realise I’ve just overstepped. Massively.
“Do you all think the same? Do you all think she could be my daughter?” South asks, worried and confused.
“I don’t think. I know.” Daisy appears behind South.
“What…? How…?”
