Sorry, bitches. Not this time.
There’s a few choice words from West as he watches the footage. “I’m going to make her, and her little fucking friend pay for this,” he says under his breath.
“Where are they? Have we got eyes on them?” I ask.
“Kara and North are trailing them now. They seem to think they are in the clear. Kara just texted asking if she can take out Alicia now and save us all the trouble, but I’ve told her no.”
I shake my head and smile. Kara’s a real force, and I would hate to be Alicia if Kara snaps.
Mateo arrives and explains what’s happening. We have to wait for Zed’s case to go in front of the judge. If they agree that this was a domestic issue, he might get away with a fine and be free, but if not, then we are stuck here for a few more days or even weeks.
West hands over the pen drive, describes what’s on it, and how we managed to obtain it. Mateo smiles and assures us he will take it straight to the courthouse, but we still can’t see Zed. I wonder what’s going through his mind. I wonder if he thinks I ever doubted him.
Kara’s texts are becoming increasingly disturbing.
Kara: I swear to God, I am going to kill this skanky bitch.
Kara: Please let me slap her stupid.
Kara: East, if she doesn’t go to prison for this, I am going to take her fucking legs off.
Kara: The bitch is sitting at a bar laughing with that sorry excuse for a prostitute and flirting with some random suits. I don’t know how long I can keep my hands off her.
Kara: I’m sorry.
My whole body starts to panic.
East: What the hell have you done? Please tell me you haven’t hit her.
Kara: No! I’m sorry for stressing you out more than you already are. North just bollocked me and told me to shut the fuck up. Sorry xxx.
East: Don’t do anything. We will get payback but in the right way. I love you, Kara, so please do not get into trouble. We don’t have the same pull here as we do in the UK, okay?
Kara: Okay. Love you, too xxx.
It’s now ten o’clock in the morning. The day after we arrived in Vegas. It’s safe to say both West and I look like shit. South and Daisy have just returned from working on Drake, and they, too, look like they need a shower and some sleep.
Drake has always been a sucker for the girls and young girls at that, so it didn’t surprise me to find out that it was Daisy who managed to convince Drake not to continue with the charges against Zed. All that’s left is the “criminal” damage to the hotel room which we have already established was not Zed.
It seems like forever until Mateo returns and lets us know that Zed will be released without charges.
“We are just finishing up the paperwork. Then, I’ll bring him out. Who needs enemies when you have family like that?” He looks sad.
“How much longer will it be? I am totally knackered,” Daisy snipes. “I want to go to bed.”
“Go!Youdon’t need to be here,” Mateo snaps back.
“Yes, I do. I was the one who got him free. So, yeah, I want to be here when he gets out.”
Oh, this is getting interesting. Mateo stares at Daisy until she looks away sheepishly.
“I’m sorry, West, but those two should leave. It’s not a good look having guys who bring girlfriends who look young enough to be their daughters into a police station,” Mateo whispers to West.
I’m the first to start giggling. Then, West smiles broadly. “That’s because she is his daughter.”
“Oh… Oh. I’m so sorry, ma’am. My mistake. I didn’t know. We see so much of it here, and I just didn’t know you had a daughter, South.”
“Neither did I till two days ago,” South grumbles in his deep voice.
