“Yes.” Her brows drew together. “But if you tell me what desserts you like, I'll try and make those instead.”
“Come here,” he said, and she stepped into his strong arms. “Khrustyky is my favorite.”
Another detail.She smiled.
“Did you promise me mindless TV?”
“I did.” She wiggled her brows.
That’s how they spent their evening, eating Chinese, kissing, and barely watching the movie. When they finished the Khrustykys, she found herself straddling his lap on the sofa and riding his dick.
CHAPTER ELEVEN
Candice
“Idon’t know if I can lie to your brother and sister for an entire weekend, Alexei.”
They were on their way to his family home in West Heights. If she thought his city penthouse was gorgeous, it had nothing on West Heights. Trees and greenery stretched for miles. The air smelled good, fresh. The houses were classic brick and huge but still carried that Louisiana charm.
He was behind the wheel, no driver today, and his hand gripped the inside of her thigh from its place between her legs. His hands were always between her legs, teasing her.
Being with him wasn’t even pretending anymore.Scary.But Candice genuinely loved being in his company.
Three more weeks.Ending it…whatever this was, was going to kill her.
“No pretending,” he said. “My family knows everything.”
Her chest ached. His brother and sister knew he’d done more than get a date for an event; he had bought her company. Literally. She didn’t know how to feel about that.
“I don’t keep secrets from Dmitri and Katya,” he said, giving her leg another reassuring squeeze.
How good it must feel to be in Alexei’s circle of trust…to havehisloyalty.
“The Heights is where we spend time with each other and can be ourselves. We talk about whatever we want, business, relationships, or nothing. It’s our safe space.”
“What if they don’t like me?”
“They’re already curious about you.”
“Like at the country club, curious?” Those women weren’t nice, and a few of the men, behind their smiles, only showed interest because they wanted what Alexei had. They wouldn’t glance in her direction otherwise.
“They’re curious about the woman that has me going home every night.”
When he said stuff like that, it was difficult to remember their relationship wasn’t real. “What stopped you from always going home every night?”
“There was nothing worth going home for before.”
Her breath hitched.
The gate opened, and he pulled into the driveway behind two other cars that looked just as nice as Alexei’s.
Inside, the house sported high ceilings and marble floors. Katya’s paintings and art were everywhere, but it wasn’t crowded; it looked warm and inviting.
“Alexei!” Katya ran to her brother, launching herself into his arms.
Katya wore jeans and a tee shirt—Candice’s favorite. Casual and laid back, but every piece of clothing was designer, and her nails were flawless. In her ears, a pair of diamond studs winked.
Alexei kissed his sister on the forehead before tucking her under his arm. Gosh, they were so sweet.
