We lock eyes; her amber gems see right through me. Without letting any second guesses creep into my head, I slide my hand behind her neck, bringing her lips to mine. Slow, soft touches, our lips barely making contact. Her hands slide up the back of my shirt as I deepen our kiss. A soft moan escapes her mouth as her body presses hard against mine.
"Andi? Are you here?" Lindsay swings the door open. "Let's go drink, listen to music, and find you a hot cowboy to sweep you off your feet—" Lindsay yelps. “I mean, um…”
Breaking our connection, I jump back.
Andrea’s eyes search mine, and her shoulders sag as she clocks the regret clearly written all over my face.
With one simple kiss, I've betrayed Bailey, hurt Andreaagain, and let myself down.
I've known this woman for less than twenty-four hours, and I'm already crossing the boundaries I've set for myself. Her kiss was fucking amazing; her body feels unreal pressed against mine; her touch sends electricity through my veins.
I miss the touch of a woman. It's been so long since I've shared a bed with someone. Not even for sex, but just to hold. Someone to make me feel safe. I miss feeling safe.
But if I let myself move on, am I betraying Bailey?
Chapter Eleven
Andrea
Daniel mumbles something unintelligible as he hurries past Lindsay and out the door. In his wake, I'm not sure if I'm floating on Cloud Nine or if I have just hit rock bottom. My body still tingles from his touch, my senses still dancing from his oak and vanilla scent, and my heart is a heavy lump in my stomach.
"Were you two justkissing?" Lindsay asks in shock.
"We kissed. We weren't kissing. And by Daniel's reaction, I wasn't too talented."
"Let me be the judge of that," she teases, moving in for a kiss.
"Get off of me, you weirdo!" I pretend to push her away, then let her pull ne close. She always knows when I need a hug.
After a moment, I pull back and force a smile. "Now, what were you saying about finding me a hot cowboy?”
“I say we get you all cowgirled-up and find you a cowboy to saddle up with and ride off into the sunset."
"Well, maybe not off into the sunset." I chuckle. "But it's been a while, so I may ride him till his dick falls off."
We burst into uncontrollable laughter. The harder Lindsay laughs, the harder I laugh.
A knock interrupts our hysterics, then Daniel steps inside. "Sorry, I left my jacket." He grabs it off the couch, looking back and forth between us. The cocky smile peeks out from the crook of his mouth.
"What?" I ask.
"Sounds like that cowboy is in for a wild night." He laughs, ducking back out the door when Lindsay throws a pillow at his head.
She turns back to me and her smile falters as she searches my eyes. “You okay, though? Really?”
“Yeah, I’m good. Let’s go to my first festival.”
“Where to first?”? Lindsay asks. “There’s shopping, line dance lessons, axe throwing, food. What tickles your fancy?”
“Drinks and shopping. Duh.” I laugh. “I need a hat to fit in with the locals.”
After grabbing a couple of beers, Lindsay and I hunt for the perfect hat. “Try this one,” she suggests grabbing the hat made from Budweiser boxes.
“Nope. Not for me. I do not want to look like some frat boy.”
“I think this one would look amazing.” A deep voice says from behind, placing a hat on my head.
“Excuse me?” I spin around to tell him off, but am stopped in my tracks by the most piercing ocean blue eyes I have ever seen in my life.
