I push up from the log that I’m sitting on and go to take a leak. I can’t sit here and listen to his shit. Of course her reaction to me has pissed me off. I was top of the food chain money wise before she came here, and her father’s wealth shits all over mine. She has never had to bow down to a man before.

I push my way deeper into the trees. My father left them here to separate the school from our private property, but it’s been a while since he had it cleaned up and cleared out. Giggling catches my attention, a drunk Cyrus is trying to pull her jean shorts up, and she falls on her ass. I walk closer to get a better look at what she is doing. She is crying now, and I turn to walk away. I don’t need to deal with a sobbing chick that is drunk, but Cuyler’s gotten into my head.

“What the fuck are you crying for?”

She looks up at me, and her watery eyes blink at me. “I needed to wee, and then I fell in my piss.”

Great, just great. Where the fuck is Lux? I spot Rogue walking towards me with Lux thrown over his shoulder. “Fucking light weights.” Is all he says as he passes me. There goes that idea.

“Here, let me help you up.”

I extend my hand, and she takes it. I pull her up to a standing position and look down at her shorts half down. “Take them off.”

“What…N..No?”

“Just take your fucking pants off, and you can wear my shirt.”

She thinks about it and must realise it’s either that or walking back out there with piss on her pants. “I’ll drive you home once you change.”

She nods her head, finally accepting her only good option. I remove my shirt, and she grabs it from me and puts it over her head, it falls to just below her ass.

“Can you stop staring at me?” she slurs and starts to roll up her jean shorts. I turn my back on her and start walking back to the clearing. Once we pass through the trees, I tell her to go and sit in my golf cart and wait for me.

I head over to the guys and tell them that I’m leaving. No one questions me. When I get to the cart, Cyrus is waiting patiently. I slip into the driver's seat and take off, making sure to stick to the path so she doesn’t fall out.

She stays silent all the way back to the dorms and up to our room. She disposes of her shorts in her wash basket and grabs her shower caddy and towel. “Thanks for bringing me back,” she says before walking out of our bedroom. I find myself grabbing my things and following behind her. I need to make sure she doesn’t slip and kill herself while intoxicated. My father would never let me live that down.

Chapter Eleven

Cyrus

The amount of light aircrafts that have come and gone today is crazy. I spent the whole lunch break watching as they came and went. Luna says it’s normal with the number of rich kids here. But honestly, it seems excessive to me.

After I leave form class, I walk across campus to biology. It’s a bit of a hike across campus, but if I walk at a brisk pace, I can get there on time.

A group of guys are sitting on the lawn, laughing at a joke their apparent ringleader must have told. All their attention snaps to me when I walk past.

“Hey pretty girl, where have you been my whole life?” I roll my eyes and turn to face a guy who looks to be about my age, he isn’t overly tall, but his shirt strains from his biceps.

“Watching my best friend die and trying to kill myself, and then I thought maybe I should come to Briar and get hit on by you, and everything would be right in my world.” He throws his head back, his Adam's apple bobs up and down with his laughter.

“I think I’m in love, I need to know who you are.” I keep walking towards class, but he jumps up and follows in step with me, his friends whistling and cheering him on.

“If it’s true love, I’m sure you will be able to find out.” Before he gets a chance to reply, Diesel has popped out of nowhere. He pushes the guy in the chest, making him take a step back.

“What the hell do you think you’re doing here, Sax?!” Diesel yells, looking mad as hell.

“Talking to my future wife.” His smile is wicked. These two clearly have beef. Sax, as Diesel called him, is quickly joined by his friends, and they stand a step back, just watching and making sure their friend is okay.

“You need to walk away now, she is off limits.” Diesel demands, but all that’s accomplished is making Sax’s smile grow wider. It’s weird seeing someone not bow down to him.

“I never thought I would see the day Diesel Briar has a crush.” I scoff, there is no way he has a crush on me.

“A crush… on that creature, that’s laughable. Why the fuck are you back?” I don’t wait to hear them argue about me, I storm off towards class.

By the time I get to biology, I’m at least ten minutes late, and Mr. Morrison stops teaching when I walk through the door.

“Nice of you to join us, Cyrus.” I feel my face go red when people start to snicker at my expense.
