I kept my expression neutral. I wasn’t going to let either one of them see me annoyed. Charlie’s smile widened, and maybe it was the low lighting, but I swore I saw a glimmer of interest in her eyes. “Great. I’m finishing up with my graduate studies soon, so that’s always exciting.”
“In psychology, right?”
“Yeah. You remembered. I didn’t think you would.”
“Of course,” was his reply, and she practically glowed. Yup, it was definitely interest I saw in her eyes. I placed a hand on Logan’s chest, rubbing it a little, and her eyes followed my movements.
Logan hummed softly from my touch, and I liked that he unconsciously moved in a little closer to me. Charlie let out an uncomfortable cough, and I didn’t have any sympathy for her. Logan was mine, and if I had to tattoo my name on his chest to make that clear, I would.
I wondered how he would feel about getting some ink.
I didn’t think I was possessive, but I was of him.
“Why don’t we start you with something to drink?” she said.
Logan nodded. “Yeah.” He turned to me then, his bright eyes flashing with amusement. Okay, so I wasn’t very subtle. “What do you want to drink, baby? There’s pretty good fresh-squeezed orange juice here.”
“Hmm, juice sounds nice.”
He nodded and turned to Charlie. “Okay, can we get a glass of orange juice, no ice, and just a water for me.”
“Coming up.” She walked away then, drawing the attention of several male patrons. Charlie had a nice body, even I could admit to that, but what was important was that Logan wasn’t looking.
No, he was looking at me, and I hated how the intensity in them made me fidget.
“What?”
“Nothing,” he said, but his eyes said otherwise.
“Okay. Then why are you staring at me like that?”
He moved a strand of blonde hair from my face and tucked it behind my ear. “I was just trying to figure out how you want to do it?”
“Do what?” I asked warily.
“How you want to claim me. I mean, I know you can’t really pee in a circle around me. Only dogs do that. Perhaps a love bite?”
I gasped in outrage and he laughed. “No, I was thinking a tattoo. Of my name.” I pointed to his chest. “Right here.”
“Okay, but you have to at least buy me dinner first. Otherwise, I would think you see me as nothing more than a piece of meat.”
I groaned. “Can we stop talking about this now?”
“Why? I like this conversation.”
“Sure, you do. Remember how you got all possessive because the guy gave me his phone number?”
That wiped off the smile on Logan’s face. “And that won’t change anytime soon.”
“Okay,” I said, and I was smiling when I said it. “Charlie needs to know you’re mine.”
“But I am yours.”
“She needs to know there isn’t a chance in hell I’m giving you up.”
“I’m glad to hear you say that, because we’re about to get tested.”
“Tested? What do you mean?”
