I broughtElliot down to the living room with me after we finished cleaning him up a bit, and Jace and Jensen were sitting there, each with a beer bottle in hand.

They had been talking about something, but that quickly stopped when both men caught sight of Elliot and me by the threshold.

They turned and I resisted the urge to squirm. Having the attention of two very attractive men was pretty unnerving. I didn’t think of myself as awkward, but I did then, not knowing what to do with my hands and being self-conscious about my walk, even.

Luckily, Elliot took the attention off of me when he pulled away from my hand and ran over to Jensen, who had set his beer down to pick Elliot up and place him on his lap.

He tickled Elliot’s side, and I smiled as his laughter filled the room.

I turned to Jace and he beckoned me over with the crook of his finger. I scowled at that and had half a mind to ignore him. Yet, I couldn’t get mad at his soft smile, or the fact that he was looking at me as if I were the most beautiful woman he’d ever seen, and not as someone wearing a simple t-shirt and jeans with my hair falling out from the hair tie and what I was sure was a mayonnaise stain from when I was making Elliot’s sandwich earlier.

Plus, Jensen was watching us.

He was playing with Elliot, but I knew he was aware of Jace and me in the room, and I didn’t know how much Jace had told him, but I didn’t want to look like a rude employee.

I walked over to him slowly, my expression serious so he knew I wasn’t happy about any beckoning he was doing.

Jace’s smile widened, and I missed the wicked glint in his eyes too late, because before I could so much as move out of his reach, Jace had one arm snaked around my waist as he hauled me closer to him and placed me on his lap. I let out an embarrassing high-pitch squeak that I hadn’t intended to let out, and Elliot sat up straight and looked at me with an anxious expression on his face.

Not wanting him to worry, I smiled at him, and only after a few seconds did he smile and went back to playing with Jensen’s tie and telling him about his day at school.

I turned to Jace with a harsh frown that didn’t seem to have any effect on him because he was still smiling. I reached out and pinched his side.

“Careful, baby,” Jace growled, pulling my hands away and holding both of my arms by my sides. I couldn’t get out of his hold, even if I wanted to, and I realized then that I didn’t want to.

“Let me down,” I said quietly.

“No,” was all I got in response.

I wiggled a little on his lap, but Jace only tightened his hold on me a smidge. “Jace,” I chastised.

“Evenly,” he repeated, taking on the same tone.

I glared at him. “Elliot—”

“Is fine where he is. He’s not even paying attention to us. Besides, I had you on my lap yesterday with Elliot, and everything was fine.”

I shook my head. “You’re shameless, you know that?”

“Thank you.”

I shook my head a little. “That wasn’t a compliment.”

The jerk had the gall to smile at me.

“What about Jensen?”

“Uh, don’t worry about me, Evelyn. I don’t really care how shameless Jace is acting. I’ve known the bastard since we were five. Trust me, I’m used to him by now,” Jensen responded, and I turned to find him with a grin on his face. Both him and Elliot were looking at us, their expressions unreadable.

I let out a groan and buried my face into Jace’s chest. I didn’t realize how loud I had been when I said it and felt Jace’s chest shake with a laugh.

“What’s so funny, Daddy?” Elliot asked.

“Nothing, buddy.”

I reached down and pinched Jace’s side once more. He grabbed my hand in his large one and I smiled into his shirt—until he leaned down and whispered, “Baby, if you want to touch me, all you have to do is say so. I can have Jensen watch Elliot for a bit while I whisk you off for a quickie. No need to get so physical.”
