I laugh. “A little full of himself, but no. He’s a sweetie. And a gentleman.” My eyelids start to feel a little heavy. I thought I slept pretty decently last night. I drink the rest of the tea, hoping it’ll have enough caffeine to perk me up.
“That’s amazing. If I visit you in L.A. will you introduce me? I’d love to see him. Just once. I’ll even make him some tea.” She sips some more.
I laugh. “Sure.” The edge of my vision blurs a little. I blink.
Suddenly, Sue Ellen slumps forward, her head falling on my lap.
Oh, crap. I flinch in shock. I’ve never had somebody pass out on me before. I thought you usually fainted while standing. Is she all right? I don’t think it’s the low blood sugar. The tea is way too sweet. I put a hand on her shoulder. “Hey, Sue El…”
The room starts to spin. I shake my head, but that only makes it worse. Bobbi stands unsteadily, biting off a pithy oath.
I feel my eyes roll back before everything goes black.
