“Are you nervous?” Mr. Hae asks.

“No.” I’m surprisingly not. The ceremony is lovely. It has its own special meaning, and of course the legality. But ultimately, Tony’s and my love for each other is the same, wedding or not. Nothing matters but affirming our commitment to each other today.

Mr. Hae nods. “He loves you.”

“I know, sir.”

“You should call me ahbuhji. Or just Dad to make it easy.”

I smile at him, blinking away tears prickling my eyes. “Thank you. Dad.”

The music starts—“Here comes the bride” from Wagner’s Lohengrin. The melody from the piano comes forth perfectly under Tatiana’s capable hands.

Mr. Hae—Dad—and I step onto the aisle, which is covered with rose petals. And I see the love of my life, my gorgeous Tony, waiting for me in front of the altar. The tux is perfect, lying over his lean, strong body just so. The most blinding smile curves his lips, and love shines in his bright green eyes.

And I know our lives are going to be perfect, no matter what, because we’ll always have each other.
