Ryder continues, “If you’re upset with him, go to another room until you’re calmer, but don’t leave. He’ll understand you’re pissed, but it won’t feel like a total banishment.”
Nosy and pushy, but also perceptive. And I don’t mind too much, since he’s doing it on Tony’s behalf. I can be the same way when I’m advocating for a friend.
“I’ll keep that in mind. But I’ve already forgiven him.” I can’t stay upset and hurt the way I’ve been, not when the attempt on my life showed me Tony’s sincerity and how real the danger actually is.
“Have you told him?”
I blink. “I think so…”
Did I?We said a lot of things last night, and I don’t remember everything… But no, I’m sure I did. And even if I didn’t, Tony should know. We held each other last night in bed. I placed my hand over his heart, just so I could hear it and reassure myself he was alive. Safe.
“Because he isn’t acting like you did,” Ryder says. “He’s been looking at you, searching for cues.”
Really?I thought Tony was doing that to make sure I wasn’t too badly hurt last night.
“If you aren’t one hundred percent sure, tell him. Or tell him again. Sometimes we need to hear the words.”
I didn’t think about that. But Ryder’s right. I said some angry things to Tony when I left him before. It’s on me to erase them.
“Thanks, Ryder. I’m glad Tony has you.”
