“Well that explains you being naked, but why is she?” Thomas pointed out.

I growled in response.

His eyes widened in shock. “Oh. Never mind.”

“Never mind what?” Austin demanded.

“Nothing,” Kate, Thomas, and I said in unison.

I noticed a robe hanging next to the door.

“Just toss me her robe,” I said.

Emmett picked it up and looked at it. “Not sure it’s your size, pretty boy.”

“Shut up,” I said as he threw it to me.

I passed it back to Kate and started to relax just a bit once I knew she was covered.

With a huff she walked over to her bed and sat down.

“Now can you please just all leave? It’s just a big misunderstanding.”

But there wasn’t anything to misunderstand. Suddenly everything was crystal clear. She was my mate, my true mate. Period. End of story.

I had no idea why I had been such an idiot about it when I first saw her and realized.

Once I started dressing, the others walked away as if the situation had been diffused, yet Austin still stood there staring daggers my way.

“That’s my cousin, Wyatt. She’s off limits. Besides, aren’t you the one who made us all swear off women for the unforeseeable future? What happened to Ashley and how much you love her? Kate is not going to be your rebound girl.”

Kate growled from behind me.

I didn’t falter as I glared back at Austin.

“She’s not a rebound, you asshole. She’s my mate.”

Kate gasped and then groaned. “We already talked about this. I thought we were on the same page,” she said through gritted teeth.

“Well things changed.”

“Nothing’s changed,” she insisted but when I turned to look at her undoubtedly with hurt in my eyes, she softened. “I have my reasons,” she whispered.

“And I had mine, but that doesn’t change the facts, Kate. You are my one true mate.”

“He’s lost it, boys. Get him out of here. It’s time for an intervention.”

The others came and grabbed me as I tried to get away. I didn’t need to talk to these assholes, I needed to talk to her. Still they dragged me from the room.

Austin turned to Kate as I passed. “Is it true, Kate?”

“What?” she asked.

“Is Wyatt your one true mate?”

“Yes, but you know how I feel about this…”

I couldn’t hear what else was being said over the roaring in my ears. There was no but. She is mine.
