“I’ll leave you to freshen up while I go and change.” Alyssia led me to the closet. “Choose anything you wish from here. The Palace magic ensures a perfect fit.”
“I’d rather wear my own clothes, thanks.”
Alyssia frowned. “It’s not appropriate.”
“I insist.” No way was I leaving my leathers behind, not even for a moment.
“Very well.” She exited the closet and went into the bathroom where she indicated a shelf along one wall. “If you place your items on here the Palace will cleanse them for you.”
“Nice. A magic laundry shelf.” I grinned. “I like it.”
“See you soon.”
She and Fin left, the front door clicking shut behind them. I tried it. Locked.
For all the good company, fine food and cleaning magic I was still a prisoner.
I had a bad feeling about this, a feeling that I should never have come here.
