ONE YEAR LATER
“Who packed the clothes? They’re all wrinkled.” Margot says holding out the shirt she just took out of the box.
“I’m pretty sure clothes are the only thing you helped pack,” I laugh.
It’s been one year since Asher and I got together and today we’re moving into our first apartment together with Margot.
“That doesn’t sound right.” He proclaims.
“It’s right,” Asher says bringing in another box. “You didn’t help pack anything except clothes and shoes. So many shoes,” he mutters.
“I got rid of some!” Margot yells.
“Like hell you did!” Asher yells back.
Yes, this is chaotic, this is my beautiful chaos and I love it all the way through.
After the weekend at the beach, I got a shocking phone call from my mom telling me she wanted to get help, because she never wanted to hurt me like she did again. She went to rehab and even though it hasn’t been easy, she’s ten months sober and I finally feel like I have the mom I always deserved. We’ve never been as close as we are now and have been having Sunday dinner together at the Tiernan’s.
I still think we have a long road ahead of us, but for the first time, I’m excited to see what it holds.
I’ve never been happier, even in this beautiful chaos.
The End…
