“Is there anywhere you can stay until you can get your locks changed?” Officer Uni asks me.
“She’s gonna stay with me for a few days. Dr. Hines said it wouldn’t be a good idea for her to be alone right now.” Axe tells them.
“Sounds like a plan.” Officer Gent says before turning towards my mother. “Now, we can do this one of two ways. You can grab your things and come with us peacefully or we can physically remove you from the property.”
“I can’t believe you are letting them do this to me!” She snaps at me. “I’ve done everything for you, and this is how you repay me?”
I don’t even bother answering her. It’s not like it would do any good. We all watch as she grabs her coat and stomps out the door. Officer Gent follows her out, but Officer Uni stays behind.
“Here’s my card.” He pulls out a card from his back pocket and hands it to me. “My cell number is on the back. I’ve dealt with many broken families before. I don’t think this will be the last time you deal with your mother. The restraining order may help, but if it doesn’t and she causes you anymore problems please give me a call.”
“Thank you.” I stare at the card as he walks out the door. I know he was trying to be helpful, but his words scared me.
“Ready to have that chat?” Dr. Fran asks.
